It is a shame, because the room decoration and overall interior design are very tasteful, and the breakfast was excellent, with good quality and presentation. Unfortunately, the poor handling at reception completely overshadowed these positives and left a very bad final impression.
Despite clearly requesting the removal of the 5% discretionary service charge during check-out, the receptionist confirmed it verbally but failed to apply it. As a result, €175 was charged from my €200 deposit, which should not have happened. What was most frustrating was the lack of professionalism and attention at the reception desk. This is not an acceptable standard for a hotel that positions itself as high-end. Guests should not have to double-check charges after explicit confirmation at check-out. I am now forced to follow up separately to correct an error that should never have occurred. This left a very poor final impression and overshadowed the entire stay.
Update: After several follow-ups, a refund has now been processed. While I appreciate the resolution, this situation should not have occurred in the first place and the delayed communication was disappointing.
