The location of the property was great, the staff were great.

There was a pungent smell on the room when we arrived that was masked with some air freshening scent the staff didn’t mention it. We politely said nothing, the smell came and went, and we left the room to explore York. Each time we’d came back to the room the smell was there, coming through a vent in the wall. When we woke the following and got ready to check out were mentioned out to the housekeeping staff, who told us that the smell comes from the storm water drain of the property next door, and the owner refuses to fix it. It’s been there a long time. But, why has the owner//management of the Exhibition Hotel not blocked off the vent, and done something about creating some alternative ventilation? Why are they still letting out the room when this has t been fixed? Poor form from the Owner/Management of the Exhibition Hotel!!!
