The Bar Convent Guest House

Lovely old convent. Excellent Staff. Good Food, Big rooms. Very clean. Very cold refrigeration.

I gave facilities an 8 because I am 76 yrs old and chose this place to stay for several reasons but one that was most important was a lift. The lift worked when we got there but broke down on first day. The office manager was very gracious when I explained how hard the stairs were for me and refunded us back the last day of our stay. Than k you Karen for understanding.

Great location, comfy bed. Air conditioning was a must due the hot weather. Friendly staff.

Wasn’t aware that a cooked breakfast was charged as an extra when booking through an agent. Lift temporarily out of order so two sets of steep stairs to climb. Unable to turn off heating in the bathroom. Cob webs need removing from the roof space of the dining room. May Require ear plugs as property is on a busy main road.

The lift broke on the first day of my stay and I was told it would be down for a week. My room was on the 3rd floor. With bad knees, I could not easily navigate the stairs and only went up and down once a day - I just stayed in my room in the evening rather than have to face the stairs. Checking out was a miserable experience because there was no one in reception to help me with my bags. I had to turn my largest piece of luggage on its back and slide it down the steps behind me. The property might always want to consider refreshing some of its linens/towels. I am sorry to write something negative about this very interesting property and its friendly staff but leaving patrons to muddle through without an elevator really negatively impacted my stay .
