Large, comfortable room.
Easy walking distance to the Minster and city core.
Easy walking distance from the train station. The hotel offered the directions from the train station in advance.
The staff were friendly and helpful without exception.
We ate dinner at the hotel one night. It was one of the best meals on our trip. Colleen had a window alcove table all set up for us. It was a quiet, restful and wonderful dinner.
I booked the room to include breakfast, and got the notification afterward that if we wanted a hot breakfast there would be an extra charge. The continental buffet was fine for us, but no other hotel we stayed at in the UK charged extra for a full breakfast.

Fantastic location, easy access from main roads (without having to drive through town), right near where we needed to be and a short walk from the main sights of York. Handy on-site parking out the back. Good communication from the hotel before we arrived, so we knew exactly where we needed to get to (as parking is accessed from another street). Room was cosy, clean and had what we needed, with comfy beds. The staff we met were all lovely and helpful and always greeted us with such warmth.
The central heating came on at specific times for the whole building and, whilst we could turn this down in the room, it was stifling hot in the corridors (obviously some people like that, but it's not great when you have to carry bags up several flights of stairs!).
Whilst the room was very clean, the bathroom needed a bit of attention, with mould in the shower and a broken light, but this was minor and overall very happy with the room.

Parking option although at a price was good
Some areas were a bit tired and main communal areas ie stairs there was cobwebs on curtains/windows
Breakfast menu complicated - could be better set out . The way the menu was laid out could be improved
We went for cooked and it was £14 for cooked option only - seemed expensive when you take into account room price too .
