About this house rental
This character beach home is less than 100 metres from one of Northland's most beautiful beaches. Ocean Beach is just down from the Tutukaka coast, 2 beaches south of Patua. To get to the beach from the bach, you don't even cross a road, instead simply follow a 20m private path across sand dunes. The area provides a touch of old school NZ bach life, with numerous leisure activities including surfing, great boating and fishing, coastal walks though the nearby DOC reserve and a variety of additional beaches to accommodate every weather variation. Ocean Beach is only 30 mins from Whangarei or 2 1/2 hours drive from Auckland. This well equiped home has 5 bedrooms (3x queen bed, 1 x bunk bed, 1x bunk and single bed), large downstairs living area and upstairs a games room with ping pong table, 2 bathrooms, a large, modern kitchen with 2 fridge freezers, and is set in a 1000sqm section with lush gardens. Enjoy great sea views from the top floor- you can lie in bed and check on the surf! One deck provides breakfast sun overlooking the sea, while you can BBQ on the rear deck to the setting sun. Great views of the reserve and Bream Head complete the tranquil setting. There is ample onsite parking.
Special conditions:
2 nights minimum stay year round. Except long weekends - 3 night min, and 7 nights min stay in peak season mid Dec to end of Jan. Families are preferred (comfortably sleeps 6 adults and 4 kids - 6 adults max).
Smoking allowed outside only.
Arrival after 3pm, depart by 11am.
FOR BOOKINGS OVER NEW YEAR - booking must be for 7
nights minimum. Bookings must be booked adjacent to existing bookings.
Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$120.00 per stay)
For people with dogs there is an extra $50 required due to additional cleaning. NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);

we packed up grandma, the dogs and the kids and headed to the beach. Kids enjoyed the sandhills and surf.dogs enjoyed the beach walks, grandma enjoyed the change of pace. We were abit disappointed that the oven was smoky so didn't use and the Bbq was grubby so also didn't use which was a shame. Overall finish of home could have been better but overall it was good.

This was a wonderful house for our group of friends. Lots of space, amazing kitchen, so close to the beach and lovely and private. Would love to stay again.

We made a long weekend out of the Saturday multi event race and the property was fantastic for that. A short walk from the beach, well stocked and an easy transfer point for the race it worked well for the two families. Loved the proximity to the beach, watched the sunrise, it really was as an ace location.

just returned home after a good time with family at Ocean Beach - as far as that goes - thank you
It is regrettable I need to confirm the following :-
1. the TV was absent - in my limited knowledge of Audio/TV the I believe there was no TV decoder present ?? - a "Dish TV remote" was but no decoder ??
2. the XBox proved inoperative to all attempts - and there were a couple of XBox enthusiasts that were unable to obtain service
3. the DVD player was the only "success" in this department - BUT a couple of the DVD's that could have provided entertainment (The Wolf Of Wall St - to name one) proved useless as we were unable to get past the security seal !!!!!!
4. "we" took due heed , over your stated protocols with the waste bins BUT were disappointed to find small bin bag in each of the two main bins - one of which likely had a nappy in as it "WAS HIGH" and in addition a discarded babys undergarment accompanied the smelling bag. To call a halt to this one, we retrieved the offending material and managed to lose it into our own disposal .................................
5. "we" also took heed of protocols with the fridge and freezers - in that we ignored the numerous items left in the one fridge - and simply worked around them - and left them in place at the end of the week !!! As for the freezers - we simply did without them !! any content and/or mess in the freezer compartments was NOT of our doing.
I have to say that for both items 4 & 5, I would have expected the supervising entity to have dealt with all matters before our arrival
A couple of other aspects which normally I would not have commented on - the Master Bedroom had two bedside lights - BUT my light was unable to reach a power source so was useless !! we would also have appreciated a soft broom and/or vacuum
I can confirm we did not use either of the BBQ's ((we took our own Weber)) and we did not use/install the umbrella
We did attempt to erect the PortaCot - but our efforts were in vain as the mechanisms to hold the upper frame in alignment was clearly faulty - my sons baby had to sleep with his parents - NOT an ideal situation. I suspect that a previous user failed to understand the release mechanisms for the fold down - and has forced the situation - resulting in the damaged cot. We are NOT responsible for this damage - we simply bring the situation to your attention.
In hind sight - an "emergency contact" would have been reassuring
