Stayed 2 nights at La Maison Rabelais and really enjoyed my time here. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and spoke perfect English, which made everything easy from check-in to recommendations around town. We had forgotten to request twin beds when booking, and although they couldn’t separate the bed, they kindly offered us 2 separate blankets which we appreciated.
The location is excellent — walking distance to the city center and the main attractions in Amboise, making it very convenient to explore on foot. Breakfast was also very good with a nice spread for 19 euros. I also liked that guests can refill their water bottles, and the hotel clearly makes an effort toward sustainability by offering many amenities only on demand.
A small note: they don’t provide conditioner, and the 2-in-1 body wash/shampoo was a bit drying, so I’d recommend bringing your own. Parking is available for 15 euros per night, and they also have parking spaces for bicycles. We didn’t get to use the pool, but it looked lovely.

Service du bar, très très long, jusqu'à une demi-heure d'attente pour passer commande, à peine moins long pour être servi et aussi long pour recevoir la facture avec en plus signe d'agacement des employés, 4 derrière le bar pour une dizaine (à peine) de clients

The hotel team is super great, very helpful, explained everything about the city and gave good tips!
The hotel structure itself! I’ll keep raising the absurd of check-in being later and later! (And the hotel was totally empty!) I’ll keep talking about the new terrible approach of the hotels not having hair conditioner anymore… it seems a bunch of men is deciding what is necessary for a hotel or not…it started with the terrible hair dryers and now they are spreading to other things that are the minimum!
The curtains don’t block the clarity!
The breakfast was a little weird as well… had to fill in a paper with what I wanted for breakfast (since the hotel was very empty). I understand the point but receiving the breakfast in a plastic tray was very disappointing… no bacon, no baguette as option …
