Ambleside Manor - Vegetarian B&B

A beautiful house and garden in a fine location. Really enjoyed the breakfast except the veggie sausages which felt a bit like eating cardboard (I'm a meat eater - if veggie sausages are this bad why bother?).

I came back after an evening out and tried to make some much needed tea. Turned the kettle on and the electricity went off! Not the lights but all the sockets power. Turned out it was just my room. Eventually I found the guy in charge who did his best but couldn't fix it. He brought me some hot water in a jug and I managed some tepid tea but the next problem was the lack of any milk. I didn't know this is hidden in a fridge somewhere. Eventually they gave me a partial refund to compensate. So if going I recommend avoiding the ground floor room at the back RHS! And pass on the veggie sausages.

Location and ambiance. Staff very friendly and attentive. Lovely breakfast room and good selection

Good breakfast . A pretty and well maintained hotel in a very convenient location in beautiful Ambleside.

Car parking.

Hard bed, smaller than pictured "superior" king room with little space and noise caused by the exhaust from the heating system just outside the window with a view of the yard. I didn't open any windows due to the potentially dangerous fumes. Bathroom control tap very stiff, lighting for beds 40w bulb. Breakfast started well but coffee insipid and second days 'sourdough' was commercial sliced. Special of french toast was inedible. Avoid their 'fine dining' vegetarian restaurant, the food is pathetic and terrible value. Perhaps a while ago they had a decent chef. If you have to go, we had room 12 so you can avoid it.
