About this house rental

The old Upper Chetco School is now open as a rustic getaway for families, fishermen, hikers, bikers, swimmers and people who love the Chetco River! Short miles to Riverside Market going back to town or Loeb Park heading up river. As only locals know Brookings is home to the beautiful banana belt which comes with a marine layer frequent in the summer. Just above the fog line, enjoy a short trip to the ocean for the day and then retreat to sunshine and a swim in the river at Loeb Park or one of the many river bars on the Chetco.
The South Wing consists of two large "schoolrooms." One with a modest kitchen and open living room. The living room has two couches and a futon that can be used as a bed. The second houses the library books from the school along with 3 queen sized beds. The large bathroom has an overhead shower and roomy stall area.
The North wing is more cozy and not as bright. Has a cabin feel with the one "schoolroom" equipped with a king and a queen bed in the same large studio room as kitchen and living room area. The bathroom is the mirror of the South wing bathroom with overhead shower and floor drain. Two very small "office" rooms are off the hallway. One room has a single twin and the next has a single bed with trundle. These rooms lead into the laundry room for the entire rental. The third small half bathroom is sandwiched between the gym and game room and labeled "outhouse."
Converted from school rooms, this rental is unique and unconventional. Some of the perks include a playground and gym at your doorstep, an outdoor shower, a game room with pool, ping pong, air hockey, and foosball table, a large stone fire pit, an outdoor basketball court, a library with hundreds of interesting reads, and spacious rooms. Surrounded by horse pastures we have a large parking area and are fully wheelchair accessible. Enjoy the Upper Chetco ideally located at the gateway to the Upper Chetco River and the Kalmiopis Wilderness area.

This is our 4 time at the school house. It didn’t disappoint! We love it and will continue to stay yearly. It offers freedom for our children to play and the adults to relax. It doesn’t feel like anyone is “on top” of each other. Lots of basketball, and whiffle ball games and fun had!!

Perfect place to stay with our family and friends. Kids had a blast as well as the adults. House decorations are amazing. Host is great!! We all want to come back had so much fun. Thank You

We had 14 family and friends stay at the school for the long Thanksgiving weekend. We had such a wonderful and fun time. The school has plenty of space and so much to do and see just on the property. Brookings and beautiful state parks are not far at all. We even drove down to the Red Woods and spent a day there. Less than a 90 min drive. The gym was a big hit along with the neighboring horses that came to say hi every morning.

We loved this place, even as adults!! It felt so homey & if we needed anything it was there! So much for our kids to do! My other half even said “doesn’t it feel like we are at families house here!!” thank k you
