A lovely hotel, in an excellent location filled with extremely helpful staff. While some of the decor is slightly dated, we thought that it added to the slightly eccentric, nostalgic vibe of the hotel. Very happy to recommend.

This hotel is centrally located in an old building with lots of character. If you don't like sqeaky floorboards stay at a bland modern hotel. The hotel has a lift but you may have to go up one or two shallow steps. If you don't like this stay at a bland modern hotel. If you want a characterful hotel with pleasant staff, comfortable rooms and excellent food, stay at the Prince Rupert. It is one of the few hotels that actually provides two comfortable chairs in a double room.
Be aware that the hotel is surrounded by cobbled streets. If you walk to the hotel you will need to carry your cases up to 100 metres.
