We have family in Shrewsbury and the Lion and Pheasant is our hotel of choice when we visit. The staff are all helpful, friendly and warm. Rooms are spotless with good quality furniture, linen, super comfy beds and pillows. Good showers and well designed for relaxation. This time I stayed with my mother, we had cosy double rooms for single use which were perfect. Others have said they found those at the front of the building noisy but as we come from London we didn't find that. We ate in the restaurant twice. On one evening they were extremely busy and there was also a wedding going on and the meal was not as good as previous dining experiences in the hotel. I would imagine the kitchen was over-stretched. The scallop starter and rhubarb souffle desert were excellent but the mains all suffered from being kept warm which impacted on quality. Our other meal was on Sunday evening when it was quieter and was much better. Breakfast on both days was great with local, high quality products and charming service. The lion and pheasant will continue to be our Hotel of choice when we visit. One word of caution the entrance to the car park tests your nerve it is very, very narrow! A delightful, tastefully decorated hotel. The deluxe room was spacious, clean, relaxing and comfortable. The outdoor space, with its many pots of flowers, was a cheerful place to enjoy a quiet drink. There was a full breakfast menu which had something for everyone and was cooked to perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed our short break and will be back again soon.

My wife and I truly enjoyed the stay at the Lion and Pheasant and would encourage anyone wanting to explore Shrewsbury to give it a go. They have great and friendly service and a nice variety of food and pub service. The staff works hard to be accommodating and they put on a great breakfast too.
