About this house rental

Peace and Tranquillity is the perfect name for this calm retreat. Go out and about, exploring the Bay of Islands, and come back to a little piece of heaven every afternoon. Or spend whole days here, relaxing in the park-like gardens, rowing on the lake, or visiting the farm animals.

The holiday home is newly-built with modern comforts, but full of character and charm. All year round comfort is assured with log fire, heat pump and air-conditioning. There is plenty of space to park a boat and trailer, and easy access to public launching ramps around the bay.

We are centrally located to enjoy the wider Bay of Islands. Situated ten minutes north of Kerikeri, we are 35 minutes from Paihia and Russell to the South, and 35 minutes from Coopers Beach and Mangonui in the North. And there are many more interesting places to visit in between.

Following our move to New Zealand from the UK, we built a house for family and friends to visit so they could enjoy their own space and privacy. The initial rush is over, and we thought it would fun to welcome new visitors who could relax in our special holiday home.

EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED for your stay to ensure you have nothing to worry about. Free Wireless Broadband, A full SKY package, bedding, towels, cleaning and rubbish removal.

We welcome well- behaved dogs by prior arrangement at a charge of $15 per night.
We love having dogs come to stay, one or two, the more the merrier. Our own Boarder Collie Tui, is very people and dog friendly. The 12 acres of grounds are all fenced with an electric gate. There is a nice new conservatory so your dog can sleep inside safe and secure. We are happy to baby sit (only dogs, not children!) if you would like to go out for the day sailing or fishing in the bay of Islands, and can't take the dog.

Steve & Dot (and we can't forget Charlie) were the perfect hosts. From the moment I booked, the communication from Steve and Dot was fantastic. On our arrival Steve greeted us with a very warm welcome and a roaring fire. The cottage was immaculate with every conceivable home comfort and we wanted for nothing throughout our stay.Charlie endlessly entertained our two dogs leaving us to relax and enjoy our surroundings. We were looking for peace and tranquility and this certainly delivered! We would highly recommend staying as you won't be disappointed.

we had an amazing stay….. host couldn’t have been more helpful if they had tried harder. The family dog just made us so welcome and was so well behaved and a joy to have visit and tell us what he had been doing all day. Couldn’t recommend this stay more than I have to any couples or families…..just a delightful stunning spot. Well done Steve and Dot.

After reading wonderful reviews I decided to book with Steve to catch up with family for the weekend.Unfortunately this is our first not so pleasant experience myself and my colleague have had in our 20 yrs of using Bookabach throughout NZ and abroad. First of all when I emailed to confirm directions we were given the wrong address, after finally finding our way, on arrival nobody was there at the time we had agreed upon so we went into town to get supplies and came back later that evening. Steve then came over to introduce himself and welcome us in. All was fine. After settling in we were then interrupted as the bedding was supposedly not clean even though we arrived 3 hrs after check in time. No problem, can understand they had a busy day. An hr or so later we were visited a 3rd time, I'm not sure as to why, we just assumed Steve was a very friendly host. After a few drinks that night we headed to bed around midnight, 1 of our colleagues decided to bunk down on the couch instead of heading to our friends in town due to having one too many. The next morning whilst getting ready for the day Steve knocked on the door, my colleague was greeted with, for lack of a more appropriate term, a tyriad of accusations claiming we had purposely been dishonest as to how many people we had stay. I had just had a shower and heard the raised voices so went out in my towel to see what the problem was. Steve immediately confronted me with accusations that I found highly offensive and would not let me speak and then referred to my being in a towel. I have never been spoken to in such a manner, especially by a host of where I am staying. We were then told to pack up our things and be out by lunchtime and and in an incriminating tone, told he would be checking for damages even though we had another night booked and we always respect and leave where we stay immaculate. I believe the situation could have been dealt with in a more respectful manner and would have happily offered to pay for the extra guest who slept on the couch if given the opportunity (as I have done a couple of other times due to unforseen circumstances and the hosts have always been accomodating and understanding). We still cant get over the hostility over something that could have been easily resolved. After having my rant, I can at least say the accommodation was lovely and clean and can only assume Steve was just having an off day considering previous pleasant reviews. Dot was lovely 🙂
