Loved the location! We arrived late in the evening, and the staff had turned on the AC in our room. I thought this was a really kind and thoughtful gesture, as we were rather cold after the trip.
Love the fact that there is a hair dryer. Always very useful!
The brekfast was good.
I dislike shower curtains in general, I much prefer shower cabins.
The bed was not one whole, but more like two separate beds next to each other. My husband and I couldn't cuddle, as one of us would have been in the hole between the two beds.
The mattress had old stains on it.
There isn't an option to book breakfast on the website, just a mention that breakfast is an option and needs to be paid additionally. But when we arrived it turned out that we couldn't have breakfast the following day, as it needs to be ordered in advance the previous day (which, again, is not possible on booking). We ordered breakfast for the second morning of our stay, but we were disappointed by the fact that we couldn't have it for the first one.

I've no idea what this hotel used to be like and why it might have prompted quite so many negative reviews in the past, but we had a very comfortable, peaceful and pleasant three nights there, right in the centre of Karlovo at a very good price. The staff were lovely and there was no evidence of any of the so-say 'issues' that other guests appear to have had. To be honest, I was slightly wary about booking it when I read what others have written here, but don't believe the negative hype - it's a really nice, clean, friendly 2-star hotel with views across to the Balkan and right on the main town square (with cake shops!) And a great base for exploring Karlovo.
The wifi was a bit wobbly - but that's no big deal or indeed uncommon.

This seemed to me a good "business" hotel with modern facilities right in the center of the "new town." A group of soldiers was also staying there. That gave me a sense that the hotel was solid and professionally run.
The manager (Petya) was very helpful to me in helping me plan my next train journeys, even looking up the times on the computer screen at the reception desk. That was very much appreciated. Her English was good.
The room was large and clean with good facilities. WiFi was good.
Really, the hotel didn't have anything to question.
There was a problem with its indicated location in my mobile's map software (MapsMe) which showed two different locations with the same name. That caused about 10 minutes of walking around, but the correct location was just across the square from the incorrect one. I finally located the hotel to end the frustration.

El hotel está céntrico, pero es muy caro para el estado de las habitaciones...no es porque los muebles sean más viejos, o más cuqui...es porque la cama era de muelles y mala, a parte de que el colchón estaba muy sucio. Tiene parking.
La cama, era incomodisima, cada vez que te girabas sonaban todos los muelles, el colchón es penoso. Cuando llegamos la calefacción no iba, menos mal del spilt que lo tuvimos toda la noche funcionando. Efectivamente, la señora de recepción, no desprende mucha simpatía, ni mucha ni poca... Tal y como habíamos leído. Muy caro para lo que es! Debería costar mucho menos, por la calidad que ofrece. Si fuese barato... Te diría, normal! Pero no, no lo vale
