Agrielia Villa | Sgourokefali | Heraklion Crete
The villa “AGRIELIA” is housed in a restored traditional stone house of two
floors(178,93 m²) in the village Sgourokefali in Heraklion. By decision of the Municipality of Heraklion – Urban Planning, the hostel was characterized as traditional. The restoration was done with more care by artisans of the stone so as not to lose the character of the house. It retains all the elements of traditional architecture, combining respect for tradition with the comforts of a modern guesthouse.
The ground floor has a separate, fully equipped kitchen with a fireplace, large living room with an arch separating the living from the dining room, spacious bedroom with double bed (15 sq.m.) overlooking the eastern courtyard and a large bathroom with Jacuzzi. The living room of the ground floor has traditional furnishing and a fireplace. The ground floor of the hostel around two courtyards is filled with flowers, colors, smells, where guests can relax and enjoy the view. In the courtyard entrance (west terrace) there is an old well and old stone staircase, which give a specific tone in the place.
The eastern courtyard of the hotel has a swimming pool (Pool size: 4m width. / Length 6m. / Depth 1.40 m). The pool water is fresh, not sea, disinfected with a modern and eco-system with ozone. This system gives the best disinfection with minimal use of chemicals and also provides ozone therapy. The place has a barbeque. Here visitors can enjoy coffee or a meal in the lounge by the pool or dine under the wooden pergola. The floor of the hostel consists of a bedroom (15 sq.m.) with two single beds, one bedroom (23 sq.m.) with double bed and a sofa - bed for two persons, bathroom with hydro massage shower (Jacuzzi). Both bedrooms have a sharing balcony.
Also, from the hall you have access to another large balcony.

The villa is beautiful. It is very well equipped with everything we needed - we really couldn't fault it! It's very spacious, with seating areas outside at the front, back and on the balcony, so there's always a sunny spot (or shady spot if you prefer!). The beds are very comfortable, and all the bedrooms have air conditioning so it's very pleasant even in the height of summer. The pool is a great size and provided so much fun for us all. Stelios, the host, is so friendly and helpful!The village of Sgourokefali is lovely and quiet, and the locals are very friendly. It has a very small minimart with basic groceries, and a bakery selling fresh bread and delicious fresh pastries, so you don't really need to leave the village! Episkopi is a 30 mins walk away where there are more shops including 2 larger supermarkets, a taverna and a lovely (and very reasonably priced) restaurant which we ate at quite a few times.We decided not to hire a car, but on the days we did leave the village, we used a taxi, which cost between 40-60 EUR each way to places like Knossos, Heraklion and Water City. It was easy to get a taxi at Heraklion airport when we arrived, even though there were 5 of us. The same taxi driver gave us his number and we messaged him on Whatsapp when we needed a taxi during our stay, and I'm sure others would do the same.We would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone!

A very quiet and peaceful stay. Villa is located 20 mins inland from the airport. You need a car to access as its located in a small village at the top of a very steep hill. However acces is simple, one long very well yarmaced road.The villa is very well restored in traditional stone and restored to a high level. Air con is in all bedrooms, but not downstairs in the living room /dinner or kitchen. But because it’s solid stone downstairs, it’s always cool.The outlook to the rear is tranquil and the view is of the surrounding countryside The villa is not overlooked and private. The host - Stelios is a friendly nice guy. He met us on arrival and provided water, eggs and wine FOC for our first night. He only came agin when the cleaners came to change the beelined, towels and clean around. He is always available via WhatsApp if requiredOverall a very pleaaant ans relaxing stay - but having a car is a must

We have just returned from Villa Agrielia after having a wonderful and relaxing 14 days holiday. Many thanks to our hosts Stelios, Maria and family for your friendliness and hospitality helping us to enjoy our stay. The villa is beautifully decorated in a traditional stone wall and wooden ceiling style situated in a quiet village. It is an ideal base for exploring if you so wish, but car is essential if you are out every day. We made use of the bikes riding to Episkopi on several occasions and found people so friendly they really make you feel at home. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend the villa to family and friends.

Stelios and Maria were very welcoming and always available if we needed anything. The accommodation offered us everything we needed and was well located for trips to the beach, Heraklion and the airport. Some good recommendations from Stelios so try those out. We had welcome gifts when we arrived and Stelios’ parents next door also kindly dropped in some fruit. Enjoy the sounds of the countryside and the cicadas and make the booking. You won’t be disappointed.
