We had a wonderful week. Our host (Roberta) took great care of us and made every effort to ensure our stay very enjoyable. She also cooked us a wonderful meal. The house was spacious and had beautiful garden fantastic views and a well tended infinity pool.
Location was secluded but with close proximity to the towns on Lake Braciano and rail services to central Rome

Two families – 2 couples with 3 kids between us, aged 3, 6 and 8. The week we spent at Roberta’s was the highlight of our European adventure.
From the moment we drove into this forested area, 1 hour outside of Rome, we instantly knew we were in for some magical memories. The landscape, the rolling hills & valleys, view, nature around us, and the house itself – everything was better than any photo could capture. Easily 5C lower in temperature than the scorching heat of 40+C Rome!!! Plus an infinity pool and tons of shade for escape.
It’s a rustic experience and in the most romantic sense – beautiful house with so much charm and with the amenities needed. The house disposition is as follows:
· Ground Floor: 1 master in-suite bedroom with AC (air conditioning) (with a pullout couch) – spacious and beautiful.
· 1st Floor: 2 bedrooms separated by sliding doors and shared bathroom (AC) – Perfect for a couple and their kids; This floor has an amazing balcony with views of the valley.
· 2nd Floor: Attic – 2 bedrooms with a shared WC – No AC
(Bedrooms on the Ground and 1st Floor have Air Conditioning); The 2nd floor attic does not, but fans are available. Nonetheless, we didn’t use this space in the house – we had enough space for the size/format of our family.)
Here, you feel like you become part of the story, part of the house, part of nature, and part of Roberta’s family. We personally loved that. We were immersed in nature and just happy to be waking up every day to the view, and the love that surrounded it all. Yes, there are bees and insects, and wild boars (not on the property itself, ofcourse) but that’s part of being immersed in nature. And to address some concerns about bees near the pool – quick google search prompted us to put some small plates of white vinegar around the pool that drove the bees away.
Roberta is so special. She really takes care of her guests as if they were her own family. While some might find this not private enough, we reveled in the love and attention. She went out of her way to buy the cutest outfits for our 3 kids, and gave us fresh eggs from her 2 chickens to cook breakfast many times over. She even brought us a water balloon kit that made for the most epic battle and unexpected part of our week.
We’ll be back. The spirit of the place, Roberta’s generosity, family-spirit, and just the sheer beauty of it all will draw us back, again and again.
