About this cottage rental

A characterful, two-storey Purbeck cottage built in the 1800s for stonemasons working in the local quarries, this is the ideal location for a relaxing holiday for a family or a group of friends looking for a peaceful base from which to explore the surrounding Dorset coast and countryside. Swanage is a lovely seaside town with a Victorian pier (1 mile away), a long sandy beach and many seafood restaurants and independent shops. For walkers, there are plenty of options including the South West Coast Path and walks in Studland Nature Reserve (4 miles) and Durlston Country Park and National Nature Reserve (2 miles). Alternatively, you can drive or take the steam train to Corfe Castle (6 miles) or visit the famous Old Harry Rocks (4 miles).


This is a Grade-II listed property, thoughtfully renovated to combine the feel of a traditional cottage with the best of contemporary living. Access to the house is via the original stone steps, or via a flatter path at the rear of the house. On the ground floor is a cosy living room with a striking brick fireplace with an electric flame-effect fire, comfortable sofas, a Smart TV and views towards Ballard Down. The kitchen also has exposed brickwork and boasts everything you need to create suppers for four. The kitchen also houses a dining table and leads to a boot room, the downstairs bathroom and a stable door leading to the rear courtyard garden. Upstairs are two bright, spacious bedrooms - a double with views of the town and sea and a twin with 3’ beds.


Outside, you'll find a gated front garden with a small private lawned area with built in wooden seating to enjoy the sunshine. At the back, there is a small courtyard with seating and shared access to a neighbouring cottage.
