It’s an old Victorian mansion in a beautiful part of town

The property has been chopped up into small rooms in a rather haphazard and confusing way. My room was in a basement with tiny windows. The family who lives there are apparently the owners/managers but they were quite aloof and nobody ever said a word to me except the grandma, who didn’t appear to speak English. The taped-on room numbers and hand- written notices came across as temporary and slapdash rather than quaint. The stairway to the basement was too narrow for me and a suitcase to manage easily. And the mandatory house slippers hurt my feet. That said, it was a relatively low-priced stay and the bed and (communal) bathroom were clean and functional. So yeah I’d probably stay there again

The bed can be a little more comfy.. It was super firm and creaky old wooden cot

The room was very basic. At the very least, a desk would have been helpful, especially for guests travelling on business. The price did not reflect the basic room setup. There was no shampoo provided, and the toilet struggled to flush properly.
