Kona Plaza, located right in the heart of Kailua-Kona, is a quiet and private condominium building within walking distance of everything you want to do in Kona. Just across the street, you can go to the beach, the pier, shopping, and to the best restaurants in town. This condo unit (303) is located on the third floor overlooking beautiful Kailua Bay with a direct ocean view.
Totally remodeled in 2018, the condo has one bedroom with a new King sized bed and a very comfortable new queen size foldout couch and a new Murphy/queen bed in the living room (sleeps 2-6 people). Blow up mattresses are also available if the kids/adults want to sleep on the lanai (Our boys love sleeping outdoors on the lanai). The condo has recently been completely renovated and redecorated in a tropical and comfortable island style. It includes a fully equipped kitchen for cooking (new dishwasher) as well as a washer/dryer inside the unit.
Guests of Kona Plaza unit 303 can enjoy the onsite salt water (no chlorine) pool, sun decks, BBQ area (steps away), and secure onsite underground garage parking. Nearby, you will find additional shops, art galleries, beach apparel stores, hair salons, spas, jewelry stores, and great restaurants. Perfect location for tourists or seasoned travelers.
This location is perfect for the World Championship Ironman Triathlon. You can watch the swimming portion of the competition from the lanai or one of the sundecks and the marathon (on Ali'i Dr) from the lanai as well. Spinner Dolphins jump out front for your entertainment almost daily! The huge sound reduction sliding glass doors out to the lanai overlook Ali'i Drive and the ocean and block out any noise. The glass sliding doors are made of soundproof glass and provide a very quiet experience for everyone in the unit. Central building air conditioning is provided, with a new controller for more accurate and comfortable climate control.

Mary is a fantastic host. She got in touch right away when we booked to check if we had any questions. Then answered quickly whenever we did. She sent the check-in instructions which were very clear and specific. Check-in was smooth and easy.The condo is fantastic. She has everything you could possibly need during your stay. Seriously. Everything. The AC kept us cool. And having garage parking with elevator access is a huge bonus!The location is perfect. Walking distance to everything in town. And only a 2-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park. The ocean view is great for sunsets.We’ve rented several different condos in Kailua-Kona. All were lovely. But Mary’s was by far the best! We’ll be going back in the future.

We enjoyed our stay here! The host was great at replying to questions i had before trip. Her directions for check in and out were great. The condo was clean, well stocked ( i personally loved the ice machine!) eating our meals on -large lanai was great with a beautiful view!! We never used pool as we went to beaches instead. The bed in bedroom was comfortable! We were able to walk to restaurants in area and checkout shops! We thought it was a good area. Looking forward to going back again!!

Pros: owner responsive, location in middle of Kona, multiple copies of everything you need for the beach, lots of fans (they are needed)
Cons: Listing says building has central AC. Upon arrival place was 85 and learned building AC hasn’t worked in years. There’s a large floor AC in the bedroom that cooled off that room, living room stayed hot. Listing needs to be corrected.
Check-in and check- out instructions were overwhelming.
As mentioned in other reviews, lots of furniture in the living room. To use either murphy bed, must move large recliners into hallway. And upon leaving, must put everything back and wash bedding.
Summary: If you are a small group, want to be downtown Kona, don’t worry about AC, and spend your time at the beach this may work for you.
