La Belle Epoque city center

Can't beat the location! Huge room with well equipped kitchen. Clever little washing machine. Good water pressure although the shower temp varied quite a bit during use.

Extremely small bathroom. I'm 6'2" 220# and could not stand up straight in the shower or turn around. I wish 2% of the area of the large living/dining room area had been added to the bathroom. Towels were becoming worn and thin. Pillows were thin.

The property is right in the middle of the city so it’s exceptionally easy to walk to most of the attractions in Bayeux. A concierge will meet you at the start and end of your stay to provide and collect the keys. The apartment is very well presented and bedroom and lounge dining rooms are large. Kitchen is a little small but quite functional. There is an amazing boulangerie and patisserie across the road. It’s very tempting and always busy. The tourist information centre is about 50 metres down the road. Normandy beaches are 30-40 minutes by car and there are some good museums in these areas as well. The D-Day museum in Bayeux is very good however the tapestry building is under reconstruction and the tapestry itself will be going to the UK for part of the closure time. If you have time you could go to nearby Falaise (45mins) which is the birthplace of William the Conquerer and has a huge castle and interesting exhibits. Beside that is a museum recognising the impact of war on civilians, also interesting. Near Falaise is a museum which recognises the decisive battle of Falaise Gap which was a turning point in the war after D-Day. All worth visiting.

There is a washing machine - top loading but with vertical spin, which I found different to what I had used previously. You have to make sure the drum is clicked closed before operation. The shower space is small. You have to find parking on the street or in parking areas scattered around town. At first this seems a little daunting but there are actually quite a few parks available within 5 minutes walk distance and once you know where they are parking is not too much of a problem. You need to pay for 9-12 and 2-7. There is also an app that you can download for parking which can save some time and make life a little easier.

We enjoyed our stay at La Belle Epoque. It was an easy 15 minute walk from the train station and we were met in person at the outside entrance and shown the apartment and given the keys. The location was in the main center of town. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The apartment was very spacious, clean and comfortable.
