The Romex Hotel
Monica truly went above and beyond to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary! We stayed at the Romex for three nights during Easter weekend.
The room was absolutely perfect—a 10 out of 10. Monica again received a perfect score of 10 out of 10.
The location was fantastic; we were just a short walk from two metro stations, making central Rome easily accessible in less than 30 minutes. Plus, a 48-hour metro pass was only €15 each, which we could purchase from the machine or use the buses with the same pass.
There were plenty of buses that passed by the hotel. It’s not exactly a traditional hotel, more of a boutique guest house, but it was definitely better than a hotel in our opinion.
The room included a mini fridge with soft drinks, a can of beer and water. There was also a coffee machine that made great coffee.
They allowed smoking on the balcony, which was a plus.
Taxis were easy to use with the Uber app, which was cheaper than other taxi apps. We only used it to get to the Vatican, which cost between €15 and €20 each way. For everything else, we used the metro, which ran until around 1 am.
The location was great for restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, and there were two corner mini-markets just a minute away from the Romex.
Having travelled the world to many hotels, Monica did everything possible to make our anniversary the best time ever.
We highly recommend The Romex and will definitely look for these boutique hotels in the future.

We had a memorable stay in Rome thanks to our Romex booking. Monica, who was there on site, was incredible—extremely helpful and kind. The room is brand new and very spacious, as is the bathroom, which is very pleasant. We even had a small balcony where we could enjoy breakfast in the sun, which was lovely. Another important detail: there are rolling shutters on the windows, which made a real difference. Overall, it was an excellent stay.
There were also lots of thoughtful little touches in the room, such as small cakes and a welcome aperitif.
