The Swan Guesthouse

The simple but spacious bedroom and the shared bathroom were both clean and well maintained. Very good, modern cubicle shower with shower gel and hand gel provided, and modern toilet/wash basin. Very comfortable double bed and a large fan which helped in the hot weather. Plenty of storage/hanging space for clothes. The room also had a full ironing board and iron, and the usual kettle, cups and tea bags etc. All in all, very good value for money, and the lack of breakfast was not an issue as there is an excellent Tesco Express (and a Sainsburys) 5 mins walk away. Clear, helpful instructions from Becky in advance for checking in and out.

The code-entry main door to the Guesthouse did not automatically lock as it should have after it was closed, and it couldn't be locked from the inside, meaning that anyone could have walked in during the night. You could only lock it from the outside by resetting the code pad. This is a major security issue and needs to be fixed. The room TV was set up for use, and it switched on OK, but it didn't work because there was no antenna/digital signal going to it. There was some noise from outside, but this is to be expected as the Guesthouse is directly across the water from many bars and restaurants. However, I did not find this to be a major problem and I slept well.

It was a lovely room, nicely decorated, very comfortable bed. Fabulous shower, ( we only book unsuit rooms) Bonuses where the tea and coffee making facilities and the large fan. This is our second stay at the Swan and hope to book again this summer.

Nothing not to like, I will however mention there is a flight for stairs to get to the rooms as the guest house is above the Swan pub. The twice we have been the pub has been closed so we can't comment on the noise levels.
