About this cottage rental
Close by are the Blue John caverns at Castleton, the magnificent Chatsworth House & gardens, Haddon & Hardwick Halls, Buxton, Bakewell (home of the pudding), Matlock, Crich Tramway museum, The Peak Rail, the Tissington & Monsal trails.
The cottage comprises of a lounge, two bedrooms (one double & one twin) and a shower room. There is an aga, which keeps it warm and cosy all year round, a microwave, wood burning stove, TV and lots of information about what to see and do in the peak. Outside there is a private paved seating area.
At the end of August the village hosts the last Well Dressing in the Peak when three wells are dressed in thanks for the water. The Well Dressing Week opens with a traditional service in the church and blessings at the wells. There are lots of events over the week culminating in the parade and Sheep Roast in the centre of the village the following Saturday.
Chatsworth Country Fair takes place over the first weekend in September then the trees change to red and gold and Autumn arrives when the walking is glorious.
Winter in the peak is beautiful as cold bright days arrive and the Aga and wood burning stove come into their own! Christmas celebrations start in November with Castleton famed for its Santa's Grotto and Christmas lights and Chatsworth House and gardens decorated to create a magical Christmas experience with a Christmas Market too!
January and February are times to chill and be cozy but then the Peak comes to life again in the Spring when walking the River Derwent along the Monsal Trail is the place to see nature come to life with ducklings and baby Moorhens along the route.
The Peak is glorious throughout the year - come and enjoy all it has to offer!
