Clef Secrète

This is a typical 3 bedroom French home in a good, safe and quiet area of the town, on a large garden plot with lots of privacy. The living accommodation is above the spacious garage / utility room so you need to be able to climb stairs. There are 3 good sized double bedrooms, a large lounge/diner, a small well equipped kitchen, a bathroom with toilet, and a separate toilet. The garage is a big bonus if you are travelling with bicycles. Easy late arrivals via the key in the lockbox on the metal gate under the main stairs. Once the boiler is on there is plenty of hot water for showers. The beds are very comfortable. We appreciated that washing up liquid, towels, dishwasher tablets etc were provided. It is only 1 mile to the centre of Amboise so very convenient for evening meals out. The outside balcony is great for winding down in the evenings, and the parasols helpful during the heat of the day. For the price it offers great value and a great location.

The house needed airing before entry (perhaps due to the washing being dried in the utility room below). The shower head was broken. The garage door jammed on closing. (We fixed these two issues). Few convenient power sockets next to the beds for night time charging (but extension leads are provided which helps). The outside refuse bins were full on arrival (with no indication which day is collection) and the green general waste one was stinking badly. The cleanliness could be better, hair in the bath plughole, thick dust on top of the wardrobe, pile of floor sweepings hid behind a bedroom door etc. Unlike other reviewers I see these as opportunities for improvement, not huge issues, and I would happily stay at Clef Secrète again.

Logement idéal par sa localisation pour la visite des châteaux de la Loire. Jardin vaste qui doit être agréable aux beaux jours. Literie confortable et dimension du logement confortable à 6. Cette maison n'est pas "moderne" ou "romantique" mais idéale en famille pour qui compte visiter les environs. Boîte à clefs pratique pour l’arrivée et le départ. Lits faits et serviettes de toilette. Station et supermarché proches.

Les matelas auraient besoin d’être de meilleure qualité. Manque de prise de courant dans les chambres. L’installation électrique est vétuste et certaines prises ne sont pas sécurisées.

only one shower which is hand held only. cooker only has two rings. arm chairs and one settee need refurbishment or replacement as the seats are collapsing. not enough electric sockets. general air of neglect although the owner appears to have made a start with some maintenance.
