About this chalet rental
La Casa di Nonno Mario is a charming and peaceful retreat, perfect for those seeking a romantic getaway or a vacation with friends, immersed in the natural beauty of Praiano. Located on the west side of the village, the house offers breathtaking views of Positano and the Island of Capri, with a panoramic terrace where you can enjoy stunning sunsets over the sea. Recently renovated, the house features fresh, bright interiors, tastefully decorated, and boasts a spacious garden with a barbecue area for outdoor dining.
To reach the house, you will need to climb approximately 60 steps, part of the characteristic pedestrian path that passes by the scenic Church of San Gennaro. For those with mobility issues or carrying large luggage, this may be a challenge, so we recommend planning your arrival with this in mind.
The house is spread over three levels:
First Level:
• Living area with a sofa bed and a masonry kitchen (very cool, so no air conditioning is provided)
• Front garden area with a table for 6, BBQ, and sea view
Second Level – Mezzanine:
• Double bedroom with a panoramic balcony
• Bathroom with shower
• Laundry room
Third Level:
• Panoramic terrace with views of Capri and Positano, accessible from both bedrooms
• Fully equipped kitchen (no dishwasher)
• 2 Double bedrooms (160x190 bed size) with sea views and access to the terrace
• Bathroom with shower
La Casa di Nonno Mario is located on the west side of Praiano, just a short walk from the village's main services. In addition to restaurants, bars, and grocery stores, you can easily access local and SITA bus stops, an ATM, and the tourist office.
Parking: The house does not have private parking directly on-site, but a paid parking area is available about 800 meters away, which should be booked in advance. While this may be a small inconvenience, the distance is easily walkable, and the private parking offers the security of a reserved space for the duration of your stay.
Public Transport: Public transport connections, including local buses, can vary depending on the time of day and season. During peak season, the service may be more crowded or less punctual. For greater convenience, we can suggest alternative options, such as taxi services, which can be booked in advance.

• Grocery stores (Rispoli or La Puteca)
• Local and SITA bus stops
• ATM
• Tourist Office
• Main beach (One Fire Beach Club)
NOTE: All these locations can only be reached by descending or ascending stairs, due to the typical layout of Praiano, where many services are located lower/higher than the house.

Praiano is a great location for visisting the Amalfi coast, and this house is a great location in Praiano. Wonderful deck. Beautiful views. Many, many restaurants and a couple markets are right at the top of the stairs. Note: a couple showers are tight for 6'1" man, no bending down. Split A/C units only in bedrooms. Queen, King etc beds are two beds combined, not too structural sound. And if you are choosing the location to be close to the beach, you are, but after first two days preferred to taxi to the beach at Marina di Praia than walk back up the many stairs from La Gavitella beach. In retrospect I would have discounted our proximity to La Gavitella beach heavily. Still a great choice. Check-in/ check-out were virtual, but worked well.

We stayed at the place for 4 nights in beginning of May - and loved every moment! The apartment is very large and has three stories. It's very clean and the kitchen has all the necessary equipment to cook. There's a store nearby to do groceries (5 min walk). You have to walk some stairs, but it's better than most apartments in the area! My 65 year old parents were able to do it easily. The view is absolutely stunning, direct view to Positano and in the distance even Capri! Praiano is also perfectly located, I recommend staying here instead of PositanoAmalfi, and just take the bus (5 minutes away walking). The host was extremely helpful, checking in over the chat everyday, and sent us several recommendations. Will certainly come back!

La Casa di Nonno Mario offered a spacious bedroom with comfy mattress and bedding, excellent wi-fi and A/C, a spacious terrace with beautiful view, and a clean washing machine.
The shower was a bit tight (appx 4’ square), the kitchen was small, and the coffee machine did not work. The 67 stairs leading to the unit were littered with trash and dog feces. Those same stairs are not lit at night so a flashlight is needed in order to arrive safely at the apartment
