Nestled in the picturesque village of Askrigg, our property offers a peaceful, slightly secluded retreat in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Known for its charming character and rich history, Askrigg gained fame as the filming location for the original BBC series All Creatures Great and Small, celebrating the life of James Herriot. The latest series was also shot locally, with scenes filmed at The Green Dragon Inn in Hawdraw, further highlighting the area's cinematic appeal. This connection to Herriot Country enhances the authentic rural experience visitors seek.
Within the village, three welcoming pubs serve delicious food at lunch and dinner. The Crown Inn, just across the road, offers hearty takeaway home-cooked meals, perfect for a cosy night in. The Kings Arms, featured as The Drovers Pub in the series, retains many of its historic features, providing a charming atmosphere. The Middle House Hotel boasts a cosy bar and a conservatory restaurant overlooking lush gardens. We stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting friends nearby. Jo was a great host with great communication and took her time during check in to make us feel at home. We would not hesitate to recommend Milton House and would definitely stay again when we are next in the area.

Lovely apartment in a great location. The room has everything you need with an exceedingly comfortable large bed. The breakfast hamper exceeded our expectations as we thought there would only be breakfast for the first day, but there was more than enough for 2 days and the food was great quality.
The village is lovely with 3 pubs to eat in. We ate in the Crown which is only a stones throw from the apartment. I'd thoroughly recommend this apartment.
