Nakamanda Resort and Spa

We arrived at the hotel after driving through a very intense thunderstorm. The young lady at the hotel reception gave us a very warm and friendly greeting. It was one of the most welcoming greetings that we have received at a hotel. The room was nicely designed, quiet and well appointed with amenities. Due to the continuing storm, we selected room service instead of going to the restaurant. The man who delivered the food and wine was very pleasant despite negotiating many steps and holding his umbrella. It’s amazing that he could do so while also holding a tray !! All staff at breakfast the next morning were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. My compliment to ask staff at the Nakamanda Resort.

The rooms were so spacious and the attached undercover balconies were so good to spend time on and avoid the sunshine. Breakfast was plentiful and there were more than enough loungers at the pool for those who wanted them.

Lack of Indian food

It’s a really beautiful property but…

I had stayed at Nakamanda before, when it genuinely felt like a luxury hotel. It no longer does. Breakfast is bland. I enjoy good bread and pastries, but here they were not worth the effort. It’s a relief there are plenty of restaurants nearby, otherwise I would have ended up skipping meals as the food was really below average. The mattresses feel worn out, and the pillows are among the most uncomfortable I’ve experienced. More surprisingly, the hotel allows long-tail boats to operate right at its doorstep. A cartel representative sits on the beach access stairs smoking all day, while boats run continuously in the morning, bringing noise and diesel fumes. And those artificial flowers everywhere, including in the lobby, do not help the impression. It undermines what is otherwise a beautiful property, and not even at a price point that would justify the compromises. I will avoid it in the future.
