Lovely hosts. They went over and above to make sure I could park for free and were very friendly. It’s a good location, a few minutes walk from the Hoe. A great find. I’ll definitely book again.

Couldn't connect to WiFi or TV

Combination of affordability, flexibility and serenity in this wonderful hidden location between the Hoe and the Barbican areas. Really appreciated the late check out so I was able to maximise the benefit of being so close to the half marathon start/finish village and grab a shower / pack up my stuff before leaving.

Okay, several reviews have mentioned the plusses: the central location and the onsite parking, the cleanliness etc. All of those I would agree with. There have been some negatives around the parking but although, yes, it is a bit tight, any reasonably competent driver should be able to park with ease. The proprietors whom we met briefly at the start of our stay seemed friendly and helpful. The room was clean, smelled nice and had a spotless bathroom with towels, toiletries etc. There were well-stocked tea- and coffee-making facilities in the room which was augmented by a downstairs kitchen with a larger range of teas and also croisssants. Although there was no breakfast I don't understand why reviewers have complained about this as it quite clearly states in the booking conditions that there's no breakfast provided, so why is this an issue for some people?

So ... We stayed in the winter [December] and the room was COLD! The room had one small radiator which in itself was inadequate but this was compounded by the fact that it quite obviously needed bleeding: the top two-thirds were stone cold and only the lower third was at all warm. The floors were laminate which might be nice in the summer but were freezing cold in the winter when we stayed. The room itself was very small and there was essentially nowhere to hang your clothes - yes there's a tiny alcove next to the bed with a clothes rail but this was way too small for two people. So you wouldn't, for example, want to stay here any length of time even in the summer [I definitely wouldn't recommend it in the winter]. The bathroom has no heated towelrail nor, indeed, anywhere to hang your towel - certainly not on the small semi-cold radiator in the room [see above]. There was no bin in the bathroom so you had constantly to use the one in the main room; I suppose we could have relocated the bin into the bathroom, but why not just provide an extra bin? Am I being picky? I hope not: these points make all the difference between a satisfied and unsatisfied customer. I appreciate not much can be done about the room size but the other issues I raise are relatively easily addressed. So: put carpet down, install a bigger radiator [and if it's not too much trouble, bleed it regularly!], put a heated towelrail in the bathroom and put a bin in there as well. Not rocket science, is it?
