I remember the hotel being built, I always promised myself that one day I would stay there after moving away over thirty years ago.
The location is super, by the old walls but close to the city centre and activities. The staff were great, the TV in our original room was faulty and they moved us to a fantastic room and nothing was too much trouble. The food was super and the alcohol just as tempting.

The proximity to the venue we were attending, was a major bonus for us.
The communal areas were welcoming and well cared for and when we walked in, that was a good general impression.
This is obviously an events and conference hotel and also used by cruise and ferry passengers. The queues to check-in and out were unbelieveably long. We booked a family room and were told it was ready, at 3pm check-in. It was not and took half an hour longer, whilst we had our daughter's wedding to attend at 4.15pm. By far the worse thing were the beds, they were so hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were like rocks. None of us slept well, and every part of our bodies ached. We did report to reception and got a flippant reply.
