About this cottage rental
Secluded yet central in the Raches region, in the forest with a view of the sea and a river. Restored Ikariotic farm with spacious garden in which Olive, nut and fruit trees and vegetables are lovingly cared for in a natural way. And many herbs with medicinal properties from which we make ointments and oils. Are you looking for peace and are you a nature lover; do you want to meditate under a tree or near a splashing waterfall; do you like walking: the house is located at a crossroads of the old donkey paths which were once the only roads of Ikaria and on which you can take long or short walks, eg: you walk within 15 minutes on a shady path to the village of Raches where there are post office, shops, restaurants and cafes. The sea is visible but the house is not by the sea. It is a ten minute drive to the beach by car or moped. We recommend that you make a reservation in advance for transport hire, as the offer is limited.

I have spent 1 week with friends and a 2nd week with my 3 daughters in Laurie's place. Hidden in nature, allowing you to escape from August's crowds but as well in easy distance from main points of interest (Mesakti beach & Raches village). We enjoyed and appreciated Lauries hospitality to share every aspect of her creation (the house, the garden, the fruits, herbs, stories, contacts etc). The house -which is Laurie's home-is fully equipped with whatever is needed for a long comfortable stay, it all felt as we have been invited by good old friends. The setting claims for people who enjoy escaping from busy crowds, are familiar with living close to/with nature, appreciate the local touch of Ikarian living

The place of Laurie is located in a beautiful garden nearby a picturesque river. It is a perfect place for those who like calmness and privacy, while being surrounded by nature. You can hear the frogs croaking in the river and birds singing in the surrounding forest. In the night you can watch stars as there are no other lights in the area. Because of our infant baby it was more convenient for us to stay in the main house as the bedroom with a double bed is located few steps away from the main house. The place is clean and the kitchen is fully equipped even with a food processor which we used to prepare food for our baby. It is also not far to reach nice tavernas and cafes for those who prefer to eat outside and try Ikarian specialties. Laurie and her husband are very welcoming and made our stay convenient. Thank you!

We stayed for three days in this very nice house completely rebuilt by its owner, in a remote location yet near the beaches. the location is amazing on the hills of Raches, in a cool breeze in an unspoiled island. the owner is extremely friendly and helpful I warmly recommend this house.
