Hôtel de la Paix Lausanne

Beautiful hotel in a great position. Close to town and trolly busses.

Achingly expensive car park. €72 for a motorbike for two nights!!

Love this hotel! Wonderful views of the lake and located walking distance to the train station. In the center of Lausanne, there are good restaurants nearby and easy to walk to the Cathedral. Staff is very helpful and polite.

A good sized room with an amazing outlook. Plenty of cupboard space and a jug for teas. The bathroom was a good size and has a magnifying mirror (a plus for my aging eyes). The hotel is well situated not far from the town center. It is around 50 mt from the subway which is 5 stops from the lake. The bed was comfy. The major highlight was the view. This was so beautiful and it has a tiny balcony on which you can enjoy the serene morning and evening calm.

The hotel offered valet parking. We said we preferred to do it ourselves as we needed to charge the car. The hotel insisted that they would park the car and plug it in, covering charging cost and adding it to the hotel bill. I challenged this twice but got the same answer twice. They preferred to do it. We were disappointed when we realized the next morning that they had indeed NOT charged the car which meant we then had to factor time to do that before travelling on.

Staff was helpful.

No coffee machine in the room. Asked: they don't have any. Only Nescafe. Towels provided were sufficient for one guest. There were two of us. We had to chase housekeeping for more. Restaurant food was mediocre at best. Porter was good but spoke only Italian.
