The staff were excellent and tried hard to provide everything we wanted. Food was excellent and everyone had a great time.

Great hotel. Excellent food

We booked last minute after we had booked a previous hotel that was dire. We’d gone to visit a sick relative and booked a hotel between Huddersfield and Halifax to be near to family in Huddersfield but near to the hospital in Halifax where our relative was. When we turned up we found it was dirty, and was used for asylum seekers and homeless people. We therefore didn’t stay and subsequently booked into The Foxglove. We stayed for two nights but had to change rooms due to obviously booking last minute. We had a family room the first night and a twin room the second night, both were clean and comfortable and we ate in the adjoining restaurant both nights. The food was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly.

The only downside we experienced was that the shower in the twin room had very low pressure due to flow restrictors in the fitting’s whereas the family room didn’t have them so the showers was good. I guess someone had removed them from the family room. I suppose these days with the cost of energy and water hotel operators need to do all they can to save money.

Location in proximity to visiting friends

Bed was particularly hard and as a consequence was very uncomfortable. Getting in and out of the bathroom was tricky for a couple of reasons. Firstly the bed was very close to the bathroom door so getting to door required a sideways shuffle. When you did get there and opened the bathroom door it missed catching the corner of the sink by millimetres, you had to be a contortionist to get in and out of there. All that said the room was clean and tidy if not a little tired looking and in need of a face lift. Staff were good and so was breakfast.
