We liked that the room was big, comfortable with good decor. There were areas for communal living, a cafe, and food options. Staff were really nice and advised us o things to do.
The continental breakfast was expensive for what it was (£12). The compote on my french toast was too thin with very little fruit content.

Nice clean recently renovated (based on the very slight smell of new paint and carpet in the corridor)) hotel. Room (we had a standard king) is a good size with all the key comforts available (good quality bed, tea kettle, iron, safe box, good size walk in shower). The staff is very helpful and welcoming. We did not have a chance to experience their breakfast, so cannot comment. Will definitely consider staying there again if we travel to Newcastle in the future. Location - perfect, 4 minutes walk to the train station, easy walk/ short bus ride to all the key points of interest, at the same time it is not facing any noisy busy street. Highly recommend to any travellers.
Hard to come up with anything we did not like... well, if I absolutely have to find something - the bin bags in the room were so flimsy that they got torn immediately after we put some rubbish in. Not a problem for us, but cannot be nice for the cleaners to have to dig all that out of the bin.

Room was freezing cold (heating was broken) and it took the staff 45 minutes after 11pm to find an alternative- no apology
The breakfast receptionist took exception to me saying that the cutlery was dirty and slammed it down on an adjacent table
