Towels The towels had an unpleasant odor, as though they had not been properly cleaned or dried. I travel frequently and stay at properties such as Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! by Marriott Cape Town and The Fountain Hotel on a regular basis, and I am familiar with the standard of fresh, clean linen expected in hospitality. Using the in-room towels was uncomfortable. Bathroom Floor There were visible stains on the bathroom floor, as if it had been mopped and then walked over with dirty shoes before drying. Utensils Although the room was booked for two guests, there was only one teaspoon available. When I picked it up, I noticed it was sticky, which suggests it had not been properly cleaned and may have been left behind from a previous guest. Noise Disturbance I retired early (around 21:00) as I specifically booked my stay for a restful evening. However, there was significant noise coming from what sounded like the fourth floor. The loud shouting, stomping, and general disturbance disrupted what was meant to be a peaceful night. The noise eventually subsided, possibly after other guests raised concerns. No Extra Blanket Saturday evening was particularly cold, and there was no additional blanket available in the room. In previous stays, a thick blanket was provided in the cupboard. While I could have contacted reception to request one, I do believe such basic amenities should be readily available, especially during colder weather. Shower Pressure The shower head dispensed water very slowly, resulting in extremely low water pressure. This made showering an unpleasant experience and further added to my overall dissatisfaction with the stay.
