Mercure Rambouillet Relays Du Château

Great, central location near the chateau and the Main Street. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Safe storage for our bicycles. Reception staff were excellent. The room was reasonably spacious, the bed was comfortable, and it was quiet. We liked that there was a bath. Good toiletries and linen.

A few things to sort out especially as the Hotel strives to be a 4* establishment. Room 003…..the window curtain was hanging off the rail at one end……the bedside table was broken…..the sockets were all in awkward places…….some cracks in the walls and peeling paint.

Comfortable bed and decent shower. Breakfast selection fairly good. Nice outdoor seating for a relaxing drink.

The air conditioning wasn’t working. The extractor fans in the toilet and in the bathroom weren’t working. The “Hot food” at breakfast was tepid. There was no black tea but a huge selection of flavoured tea. It is advertised as having a restaurant but in the evenings there is only a bar menu and most items weren’t available. Very disappointing as we stayed there ten years ago and have happy memories of the Crème Brûlée. I reported the air conditioning and extractor fan problems after the first night and they promised to get a mechanic to fix it. The next night it still wasn’t working and our room hadn’t been serviced. We discovered the next day they had given us another room but couldn’t find us to tell us although we were sat outside from 7pm . The new room was an upgrade and the air conditioning was working although the extractor in the bathroom was very poor and the toilet one didn’t work. It could be a lovely hotel but they are obviously struggling .
