Borgo La Torre alle Tolfe

La Torre alle Tolfe is a great option for tourists looking for a traditional "agriturismo" stay. The hotel structure (of course modernized for tourist purposes :)) dates back to the medieval ages, it has history written all over the place and the views from Siena are incredible. It's a great place to stay if you count with mobility to get to Siena and visit the city, if that's the plan; if not, you can stay at the hotel and spend the days just relaxing at the incredible pool and take advantage of the different activities organized by the hotel staff. The hotel restaurant was really good, it has typical italian dishes; it is open during noon and for dinner as well. Breakfast was served in the garden as the mornings were warm enough :)

Incredibly beautiful! The grounds are gorgeous and accessible, the staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is plentiful and delicious. There’s a variety of spaces for relaxing in and the option to enjoy lunch and dinner, at an extra cost, if you don’t wish to go anywhere else. (There are some options for kitchenettes).

+ The property is beautiful! Great views and walking paths. The pool is really nice and it’s great that they have the ability to offer breakfast, lunch and dinner plus other great activities at the property. + The wine tour with Virginia was great! She is very knowledgeable and passionate about wine and the La Torre alle Tolfe. This was a highlight of our stay! + Breakfast was good and the breakfast staff was great during our stay! + Room was spacious and clean. Beautiful, spacious and lovely decor. + Close to Siena, only 20min drive.

- Our double bed mattress was extremely uncomfortable. Both my husband and I left with back and neck pain that we did not have before arriving. The mattress sinks in the middle when you lay on it (we are not heavy people, between 54-60kg). The pillows were very flat. We found extra pillows in the closet which was great but it didn’t help since they were just as flat. As a result we didn’t have a good nights sleep our entire stay. We probably should have mentioned it to them but what would they do? The place seemed quite full. I would advise them to update their pillows and mattresses. - Dinner service was extremely slow and unorganised. One evening we waited 1hr before receiving our dinner and the food was undercooked. They also mixed up our bill that night and tried to charge us for items we did not order. The waiter doesn’t scan the room to see if people need menus, drinks, to place an order. We constantly had to wave them over to ask for menus, or to place our order— they just weren’t proactive. Many times their heads were down looking at their phone. Dinner is quite expensive there and so we also expected good service, unfortunately that was not the case. Poorly managed. Borgo La Torre alle Tolfe is such a lovely place but these experiences really dampened our entire experience.
