Baslow village itself is much sought after, being located on the doorstep of the magnificent Chatsworth Estate, and benefiting from a well-stocked village shop, tearooms, good local pubs serving food and even a Michelin starred restaurant. Set in the heart of the Peak District National Park, the village is surrounded by magnificent countryside, and other pretty unspoilt towns and villages. The fascinating ‘plague village’ of Eyam can be reached in around 10 minutes, as can the thriving market town of Bakewell. Matlock and Matlock Bath, with its cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham, are just 20 minutes away, and the spa town of Buxton 30 minutes. Very comfortable accommodation, in a great location. Hosts were very friendly and communicated well.Little Hoot is perfect for a few nights away, as a couple.Baslow is a beautiful spot with lots of walks and no need to use your car. Can highly recommended The Prince of Wales for good food.

What a wonderful cottage Little Hoot is! It is in a perfect location—quiet but still close to everything and everywhere you want to go. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. The bed was a delight, great size and so comfortable and a lovely shower room and small 'hall' to keep coats. Lots of lovely little touches, such as a 'tray' inside the door for muddy boots, needed in the winter!We met John a couple of times and was made to feel very welcome by him to his lovely cottage.So pleased to have found Little Hoot and hope to be back again in the future.The village has amazing cafes and eating places and is easy to get around and within easy driving of all the popular places to visit, Bakewell, Chatsworth, Matlock, Haddon and so much more.Recommend - excellent week away.
