In Gonia, a small traditional village, 11 Kms out of Rethymno town, the wonderful Ikia Eco Home awaits to offer you, all the comfort and relaxation you need for your summer vacation! This beautiful holiday home has it all: architectural design and only the finest materials, all carefully chosen, all ecological and respectful to the environment! In this unique location, just 7 Kms away from the closest beach, the colours and scents of nature will captivate your senses!
It’s small size (80 sq.m ) contributes to creating a rare blend of self-catering accommodation in an environment of natural beauty and it can accommodate up to 6 people, making it ideal for big families, groups of friends or 3 couples.
Layout
This amazing house is located on the first floor of a newly build on a traditional form and it features two lovely bedrooms, one double and one twin - the two single beds on this bedroom can be joined to form a double bed. COCO-MAT mattresses and goose feather pillows make sure that you’ll sleep as good as possible and that you’ll get all the rest you need.
Also, in the cosy living room there is a sofa which converts to an extra double bed. The living area is tastefully furnished, with fine design furniture and decorated with paintings of the famous Greek painter George Stathopoulos. You can relax and feel the warmth of company and family around the great open fireplace…the area gives off a sense of discrete luxury and good taste, which you’ll definitely enjoy.
Furthermore, there is a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area, a separate office space for your laptop and a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.
The house is bright and airy all day long and you’ll certainly have a good time indoors, when you get tired from all the trips and excursions! All rooms have balcony access where you can enjoy your breakfast or drink a complimentary raki while picking on the village life or enjoying the view to Cretan mountains. Relax, try to prepare your meal on the BBQ or dine outdoors and have a memorable time with your friends and family.

Gonia is a traditional village, located 11 Kms out of Rethymno town and just 7 Kms away from the lovely sandy beach of Petres. It's just a 10 minutes drive to Rethymno, where guests can find a big variety of shops, restaurants and all kinds of amenities, as well as the large sandy beach of Rethymno and famous sigh seeing spots. Other nearby places, worth visiting, among others, are the village of Argyroupoli with its waterfalls, the lake of Kournas, Preveli palm beach, Kourtaliotiko Canyon, Anogeia village (centre of the traditional Cretan music), the Arkadi Monastery, the beautiful beach of Plakias and many other places of interest as well as endless beaches. It is undoubtedly worthwhile to pay a visit to the prefecture of Rethymnon.

We had a late arrival on Chania Airport and after picking up the rental car we arrived at our holiday address in Gonia around 23.00.
Never the less, our hosts waited for us and gave us a warm welcome.
Our hosts gave us a tour thru the apartment, showing and explaining use of the equipment available.
This is a great apartment, on first floor with own access via stairs on backside.
A spacious living room with open kitchen, table and chairs for 6 people, also features a super 3rd double bed alias couch and sliding window doors to a balcony with wooden chairs and table.
All furniture is made from massive wood.
Both bedrooms, each with double doors to front balcony, have great beds and plenty storage space.
The owners and their family took great care of us during our stay in Gonia.
Gonia is a village only about 10 Kilometers south of Rethymnon and a good starting point for exploring Crete. There’s a restaurant, 2 pub’s, a supermarket and gasstation.
People here are friendly and welcoming a small conversation.
We had a great 4-week holiday here and looking forward to return next year.

Ce logement semble être tout neuf donc quelques aménagements complémentaires peuvent être apportés. Pour trouver plus facilement, car il n'y a pas d'adresse, il faudrait indiquer la "Taverna Androulidakis". Cette taverne est d'ailleurs à recommander pour des plats crétois typiques. Nous avons reçu un accueil très chaleureux, boissons, produits locaux ... de la part de toute la famille. Il faut se souvenir que dans les pays méditerranéens, la vie se prolonge tard le soir et heureusement que l'on peut dormir fenêtres fermées avec la climatisation. Dans la cuisine l'on pouvait trouver des produits de base: sel, poivre, huile .... et les produits ménagers pour le lave-vaisselle et le lave-linge. La vaisselle pourrait être complétée par de petites assiettes, de petites tasses et petites casseroles, une grande passoire ... Dans la salle de bain, on aimerait trouver de quoi suspendre les vêtements, une chaise dans les chambres ... Ce logement est à recommander si l'on veut quitter un peu les complexes touristiques du bord de mer et trouver une Crête plus authentique.
