About this villa rental

On the Tuscan hills, near Carmignano, Villa il Cerretino enjoys an exceptional 180-degree panorama of Florence and a 20-hectare park where guests can take relaxing walks. The 6 large double bedrooms with bathroom, furnished with care and with design pieces, can accommodate up to 14 people. The various halls, which offer the possibility of organizing parties and receptions, are perfect for guests who like to carve out their own spaces for work and intimate rest. The splendid newly restored infinity pool with iacuzzi and 2 bathrooms make the holiday perfect for groups of friends and large families who can also enjoy a large kitchen with fireplace, dining rooms and convivial spaces in the gardens.
Villa di Cerretino takes its name from the small wood of Cerri (dialectal form with which in ancient times the oak was indicated) in which it is immersed near Bonistallo. The unusual central courtyard scheme with typical elements of the fortifications (such as the circular corner turrets and the walls) and the strategic position from which the road between Florence and Pistoia dominates feeds the hypothesis that the structure was built on the remains of the fort of the Torrebecchi, of the Strozzi, conquered and destroyed in 1325 by the troops of Castruccio Castracani in an attempt to conquer Carmignano.
The military architecture of the late fifteenth century is mixed with elements of rural construction and the noble villa through the various transformations undergone between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In the fifteenth century the complex belonged to the Bini family (various coats of arms remain on a tower and in the villa) and then passed to the Medici family to whom the fame of the villa is linked, which was chosen by Grand Duke Francesco I as the residence of Bianca Cappello, the Venetian noblewoman who was his lover, then second wife.
The furnishings were studied and made to design in the 70s by Poltronova. The gardens were designed by Porcinai (one of the most important landscape architects of the twentieth century), while the exteriors were followed by Guido Morozzi who at the time was in charge of the Directorate of the Superintendence of Florence (Special Section for the execution of the works on the buildings monumental). The arrangement of the works and the distribution of the spaces speak a modern language capable of stimulating emotions and providing inspirations. In the Villa you can admire works by exponents of Italian Pop Art of the 60s including Valerio Adami, Mario Ceroli and the whole school of Pistoia (Barni, Buscioni and Ruffi).

We recently stayed at the Villa for 5 days and had a wonderful relaxing experience. First impressions of the Villa were how clean, spacious and well maintained the property was. From the large and many, well decorated living spaces, to the comfortable bedrooms each with their own bathrooms, to the fully equipped kitchen and one of the best pool areas you will find. The Villa is even more beautiful and bigger in real life and was the perfect spot to relax with family and friends. (4 adults and 4 children) The Villa Manager Benedetta is amazing to deal with. Always prompt and easy to liaise with.

Our stay at Poggio a Caiano, Villa II Cerretino Tuscany, was extraordinary. From booking to checkout, Benedetta, the Property Manager, provided exceptional communication and support. Her knowledge of the villa’s history, local attractions, and help with reservations made everything seamless. She even organized a perfect post-wedding celebration for 30 guests with catering, musicians, and beautiful decor. The villa is a stunning mix of 14th-century tradition and modern luxury. The expansive pool and spa area, with ample seating, evening lighting, and convenient poolside facilities, was a highlight. We loved exploring the 20-hectare park, filled with olive and citrus trees, offering panoramic views of Florence. The private courtyard, chapel, and spacious seating areas were ideal for family gatherings. Inside, the villa exceeded expectations. It’s larger than photos suggest, with beautifully furnished rooms filled with art and décor. The daily housekeeping by Loredana, was impeccable, and the kitchen was fully equipped for meal prep. Mornings on the outdoor patio, surrounded by nature, were serene, with sightings of deer, foxes, and birds. The six large bedrooms, each with its own ensuite and air conditioning, offered comfort and privacy. The gated entrance, long driveway, and meticulously maintained gardens added to the sense of exclusivity. Villa II Cerretino is a hidden gem in Tuscany, blending luxury with peace. We highly recommend it! Thank you, Benedetta ❤

Our family just returned from our stay at the Villa Il Cerrentino. To say we enjoyed the property would be an understatement! The pictures listed on the site are beautiful but we all agreed that the property is even better in person. We had 9 adults, one teen and a three year old in our party. The villa and grounds were expansive and beautifully maintained. The pool was a highlight! We enjoyed lounging and swimming almost daily. We cooked most meals at the villa and found the kitchen stocked with everything we needed for our meals. The weather was beautiful and permitted us to dine al fresco on the patio adjacent to the kitchen. The rooms were overly spacious, the beds very comfortable and each room had its own bathroom. Benedetta was a wonderful host and so responsive! She made our stay easy and provided us with prompt answers to any questions we had. Some of us made a day trip into Florence with a private driver. This was a highlight of the trip as many of us had never been into the city. We also took a day trip to a local vineyard, Pieve dei Medici. I highly recommend this as well. Very close to the villa and a wonderful addition to our vacation. Thank you Benedetta for your hospitality and we hope to be back!

We spent the most wonderful time at Villa il Cerretino. It was a special occasion for a big family reunion and holiday with friends. The house is absolutely beautiful, and the setting is poetic and peaceful. Benedetta, who manages the property, is fantastic. She helped us plan a birthday dinner, recommended good restaurants, and was always available to address any house needs. There is so much to explore in the area (Florence, Lucca, Pisa, to name just a few towns), and there are lots of sports activities with jogging paths, tennis and golf right nearby. Everyone had a great time. We will keep the most special memories of our stay here!
