Gated top and bottom deck to keep small kids from the water, if needed otherwise you can just keep the gate open. Makes it much more relaxing and gives you some peace of mind, if you have small kids since your on the water.
Canal is on the Bay. You can Kayak to the state park, which you can see from the deck. It is located just on the other side of the canal.
Since the canal leads into the Bay you will usually catch Red fish and Speckle Trout at night.
During the Day you'll catch anything that swims by, Flounder, Croaker, Reds, Sand Trout and Drum. We honesty have caught it all. Bait up the crab traps upon your arrival with, fish, chicken, or just about anything and you will most likely wake up to a nice snack, or meal. The stone crab are deliciously sweet. The rule to those are take one claw (which it will release, if you pull just right) and release the crab back to ensure more future stone crab.
If fishing's not your thing then just hang out, swim, listen to music and enjoy the views. Beach is just 5 minutes down the road with a few restaurants near by. We really enjoy 'The West End Marina and restaurant' down the road in Sea isle. There is a casual Sand Bar Grill, where there is always a live band, or some thing going on. Great food and drinks with great water views. Upstairs is more of a fine dining "The West End Restaurant". Jamaica Beach is close to many of Galveston's favorite attractions. Twenty minutes from Schliterbahn, and Pleasure Pier. We have our own police/fire department, grocery store, liquor store, and two churches.
We're shaded all day underneath the covered porch since we face the East and the lot next door is empty, so you'll always get the South and South East breeze during the summer.
Tips for fishing. We fish primarily from the top deck at night and during the day just because it's easier, since you can walk in and out of the house. It will be cooler temperature wise fishing downstairs during a hot summer day. We do have fishing lights for night fishing.
Fishing can be great at night ! The large Red fish love shrimp and the trout love live shrimp and artificial lures. If you get up early before the sun rises you can catch some nice Reds or Trout off the dock. STR25-000074

We had a fantastic time staying in your warm and welcoming home. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the essential cooking utensils, making meal prep a breeze. The air conditioning worked great, and the ceiling fans in each room added extra comfort. Although we didn’t spot any fish under the lights during our stay, we made good use of the kayaks to explore nearby spots and were able to catch a few. We’d absolutely love to return to this beautiful home again.
