Venice has been much more "island" than what we are able to imagine today while we admire it in all is splendor.
Venice has always had a complexity of life, expecially in the past, very different from the mainal despite its proximity; the city was full of shops and "fonteghi" (warehouses) located at the ground floor of every house between the alley ("calle") and facing the canal.
These work places and traiding posts allowed the flourishing of commerce, craftmanship and the cit'y self-sufficiency.
The renovation of these particular places, nowadays left unused, are now passion of deeply fond of tradition architects.
That's how "Casa Ruiz" was born, named after the Ruiz family, who owned a southamerican coffee and spices company dealing with venetian merchants. the house was used as warehouse for coffee, spices, ceramic an metal artifacts.
The building is not very high, horse shoe shaped with an opening on the fondamenta and the canal. It was partly divided and partly lifted up recently but the charm of the place is intact, mostly due to the private courtyard that the house embraces.
The renovation has unveiled all the typical characteristics of this kind of buildings: enormous windows in every room, an exit on the courtyard and massive beams painted on the high ceiling, with walls that are now and then interrupted by intertwining chimeys used for the processing of roasting coffe beans. at the moment "Casa Ruiz" is a comfortable house located in an interesting part of the city, for those guests who hope tp get to know a difference Venice, within its squares and alleys eternally the same.
It will be easy to reach the usual tourist-attraction places and at the same time to take shelter in a quiet space as the backyard at home.
IN THIS APARTMENT THERE ARE 3 BIG BEDROOMS AND 3 BATHROOMS

Casa Ruiz is a beautiful 130 sqm. apartment arranged in a "horseshoe" around a private courtyard for the guests' exclusive use.
The guests can access to the courtyard from the living room and from 2 of the bedrooms, and enjoy a quiet breakfast or dinner in the summer evenings.
The main entrance to the apartment bring to the comfortable living / dining room, the real heart of Casa Ruiz, where you can relax watching satellite TV or sharing meals with your family or friends on the big dining table.
The kitchen is very well-equipped with fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and all the necessary accessories to cook.
A corridor that connects the living room to the 3 bedrooms and the 2 bathrooms guarantees privacy and tranquility and all the bedrooms have got large windows that face the private courtyard and give brightness to the ambient.
Next to the double bedroom there is a beautiful relaxing room / studio WITH A BIG table, perfect for kids or young people!
About toilets, Casa Ruiz has got 2 spacious bathrooms with shower and a smallest one with washing machine next to the relaxing room.
Heating and hot water are secured by a brand new autonomous boiler and the air conditioning system individually controlled from each room will refresh the warmest summer nights.

Everything about this property is superb. Irene’s communication is responsive and super friendly. We were met from our water taxi and accompanied to the apartment and given clear verbal and written instructions. The apartment was spotlessly clean and even better than it looked in the photographs. Everything worked well, the showers were excellent. It is well equipped with everything we needed.The location of the apartment is superb. A short walk to everything you need - supermarket, shops and restaurants. The courtyard is an amazing oasis when you need a little peace and quiet after a busy day sightseeing.
