About this cabin rental

You probably expect a lot from a cabin named Smoky Haven. Fortunately, this one delivers -- The three-story, three-bedroom log home features a game room, a home theater room, an outdoor hot tub. There are three large covered decks that look out toward the Great Smoky Mountains—and it’s less than ten minutes from attractions-packed downtown Gatlinburg.

The open-plan living/dining/kitchen area makes up most of Smoky Haven’s main floor. Large windows let in plenty of light, showing off the wood-planked walls, ceiling, and floor to perfection. On chilly winter evenings the stone-surround gas fireplace adds to the welcoming ambiance; in warmer weather, the ceiling fan will help you keep cool (as will the central air-conditioning). The furnishings—leather seating, iron-and-wood tables—are rustic yet refined. Whether you’re watching a movie on the large flat-panel TV, playing charades, or surfing the web via the free WiFi, you’ll feel right at home.

The dining area can seat ten people: six at the table and another four at the breakfast bar. The breakfast bar doubles as additional kitchen counter space—and once you see Smoky Haven’s well-equipped kitchen, you’re going to want to cook at least some meals in. Shining stainless-steel appliances, gleaming stone counters, plenty of cookware and tableware: All you have to supply is the food and an appetite.

The top floor of Smoky Haven includes a spacious game room. The full-size pool table takes center stage, but there’s also a game arcade and a pub-style table perfect for a rummy marathon. And once you sink into this room’s leather sofa, you might never want to get back up! For another entertainment option, head downstairs to the home theater room. Seven people can kick back in cinema-style seats, complete with cup holders, to watch a movie on a large screen.

While there’s plenty to keep you happily busy indoors, chances are you’ll want to be outside as much as possible, admiring the lush woodlands and the mountains beyond. During the day you can watch falcons and eagles soar across the sky while chickadees, wrens, and warblers try to outsing one another; at night the owls and whip-poor-wills will serenade as you pick out constellations in the star-studded sky. Smoky Haven’s rockers and porch swing are idyllic spots for relishing nature’s beauty. Even better, perhaps, is the upper deck’s hot tub. Especially after a day of hiking, skiing, fishing, or rafting, a soak among its massaging jets of water will feel so pampered.

Smoky Haven’s three bedrooms are pampering as well. Each includes a TV and a private full bathroom. Two of the bedrooms feature a luxurious king-size bed, while the third has a queen. Additional guests can sleep in either the living area or the great room: Each has a sofa that opens into a bed for two, enabling the cabin to sleep up to ten people. In addition, the home has a convenient half-bath—and speaking of convenience, it includes a washer and a dryer too.

Most convenient of all is Smoky Haven’s location. In less than ten minutes you can drive to downtown Gatlinburg, home to the Anakeesta outdoor entertainment complex, the Guinness World Records Adventure, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, mini golf, arcades, restaurants, distilleries, shops, and more. Equally close is the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, an eight-mile trail of more than 120 shops, galleries, and studios. And the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is only fifteen minutes away.

Whether you’re visiting with friends or on a family vacation, in search of adventure or of some much-needed downtime, you’ll find Smoky Haven to be a true haven within the Smoky Mountain region. Book your stay today; we look forward to seeing you!

The house was clean and has fun features like an arcade game inside. However, the stairs will frustrate you if you have small children or elderly folks. There’s no bedrooms on the main level. The downstairs bathrooms are frustrating if you have kids who still take baths. The one attached to the queen bedroom won’t warm up. The other downstairs bathroom tub doesn’t work. You can only shower in it. Other than that, it’s exactly as listed, and the shared kiddie pool was great for my baby. Also, bring an oven mitt if you plan to cook. There’s not any. There’s also no salt and pepper provided. Super nice house and resort overall, and a great location. This particular house just wasn’t great for small kids.

The overall cabin is nice. The description states that it sleeps ten. Our stay was 5 nights. Here are some of my concerns during my recent stay at this particular cabin. There are 3 bedrooms. Upstairs Bedroom: No chest of drawers, only 2 night stands with 2 small drawers each. If you are staying for a week or more, there is no storage space to place your clothes. The closet had no hangers to hang your clothes on. There was no indication in the description that you would need to bring hangers. We basically were forced to leave our suitcases on the floor, and rifle through our stuff. The upstirs loft area had a leather sleeper sofa. 2 night stands, with no drawers. The mattress on the pull out was paper thin, and very uncomfortable. Not really accomodating for 2 adults, but maybe only small children. The basement area, has 2 bedrooms. Both of the bedrooms had 2 night stands, but neither of them had any drawers. There also were no hangers in the closets. Again no place to put your clothes. The living area had a pull out leather sleeper sofa, same situation, very thin mattress, not comfortable for 2 adults., and no storage space for suitcases or clothes. There were not enough towels or wash clothes (2 per bathroom). If you were planning on cooking alot, there is only 2 frying/cooking pans. There is a crock pot, and this one had a broken electric skillet. The diswasher did not work. I called the number for assistance, and was told the issue was acknowedged but no maintance person come to fix it. We could not wash our dishes, and again, there was only a very small bottle of dishwashing liquid to do so. Still broke as we left. The living space is small, and the loft/ pool table / game area is medium size. 10 guest is pushing the comfort level, at most 6 people could fit comfortable. The Wifi was spotty. We had Wifi on the first and last day of our visit. The router didnt seem to be in our cabin, as when we walked towards our neighbors cabin, the Wifi spiked to full bars. There is no mountain view from either balcony view. Over all the cabin was clean, but the constant reminder of what we didnt have, and was not about to go purchased was annoying. I most likely will not rent this cabin again, and will do better investigating prior, and would ask more questions. If your only staying a weekend, and dont need storage space for your clothes, and plan on eating out most the time, then this cabin would be great for you.
