SALTY DOG is a 2 bedroom 2 bath oceanfront home located just north of Gold Beach in Rogue Shores a small oceanfront community of about 30 homes 1 MILE WEST of the Highway 101 and away from traffic. Gold Beach is located about 30 miles north of the Oregon/California border on the world famous ROGUE RIVER. This open plan 2 bedroom home has all wood floors with a full west side glass wall and panoramic views of the coastline and ocean. The main floor is the second floor with the living room with wood burning fireplace, dining room, full bath and kitchen and full laundry. The bedroom has a queen bed and a twin. There is a futon in the living room.
The third floor is the master bedroom with a king bed and seating area and a bath. The house has WIFI, full cable TV, a large west side deck and a HOT TUB under the trees. There is a 2 car garage. We have our own path to the beach about 100 feet west of the home. Our beach is about 3 miles long and sandy with large off shore rocks and the Marine Mammal Reserve from the mouth of the ROGUE RIVER to the south and OTTER POINT to the north. The lights of Port Orford are visible at night to the north west and you can see the Cape Blanco lighthouse flash every 20 seconds. There are many Harbor seals, Sea Lions, sea otters and sea birds off shore and grey whales can be seen years round. Look for agates (semi precious stones) shells, driftwood and other interesting items or you can just enjoy a nearly empty beach and watch the waves and sunsets.

A very quaint beachfront cottage complete with a hot tub under the stars. A perfect getaway for a couple who appreciates a homey atmosphere and a conscientious, responsive host.

My husband and I have stayed at the Salty Dog before and we have always enjoyed our stay there. It is in a very nice location with lovely beach views. The home could use some sprucing up and more deep cleaning, but otherwise we love spending time here.

This house looks nothing like the pictures. Beach access stairs are falling apart and then you have to climb down a ladder. Fence outside is falling apart and plants are overgrown. Poor housekeeping with spiderwebs and dirt in the windowsills. Slimy washing machine and sink faucet. 2 comfy beds, 1 uncomfortable bed. Dishwasher takes 6 hours. Contacted host upon arrival regarding unsafe beach access and dated interior. He gave me directions to easier access and said maybe someday he'd have the money to remodel. Does NOT match pictures. Not all jets and none of the blowers work in the hot tub. Did have a nice ocean view and the master bedroom is decent. Lots of stairs. Don't think I'd rent this one again but made the best of it. Wasn't what I expected.
