About this castle / palace rental
Discover the Château de Gizeux, his family history. Nestled in the heart of the Loire Valley, near Tours, this extraordinary residence will tell you its many secrets.
Our apartment called "Contades" in honor of General Marquis de Contades-Gizeux is a cottage located in the main body of the castle, with an independent entrance. This privileged space allows you to organize your stay in Touraine in peace, in the heart of a peaceful and relaxing.
It features 2 spacious rooms fully renovated and furnished with period each with its own bathroom, a living room of over 50m² with piano and flat screen TV. A fully equipped kitchen and a dining room. The large castle park is available, and the pool heated outdoor and private. During your stay, enjoy the scene to visit the castle of the day or night by candlelight (Tuesday evenings in July and August) and if you come with children, many activities are organized for them (games outside, treasure hunt , storytelling workshops or oven bread or coat of arms.).
Close to many castles of the Loire to visit (Azay le Rideau, Villandry, Langeais, Saumur, Chinon) but also the vineyards of Bourgueil and Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, the walks or bike abound around the castle which is located the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional Loire-Anjou-Touraine.

Such an atmospheric property, filled with echoes of its colourful past. This is not a hotel-like palace but rather a grande-dame of a chateau with all the attendant wrinkles and wear that actually feels like it's been lived in by real families for centuries. We loved the authenticity of the chateau and especially enjoyed prowling the rooms and grounds, the caves, the woods, and the secret garden, and what a treat it was to realize the chateau has an actual moat. There were also so many creative touches to enjoy all across the property like the mystery trail and the carriage collection and the giant chess set where our granddaughter trounced her father. We'd love to return one day to see how the ongoing restoration work has progressed and wish the de Laffon family the very best with their labour of love. Oh and the Host's Table was absolutely delicious.

We (two couples) loved our stay at Gizeux.
Stéphanie is a generous host with her time and hospitality. Our stay started perfectly with a home cooked meal and stories about the history of the château.
Gizeux is an excellent base to explore the Loire and its magnificent châteaux. At the end of the day it was always very special driving back to our very own!
The family is doing an incredible job of preserving the château and it was an absolute privilege to make it our home for a few days.

We loved our stay in Gizeux! From the beginning when Manon showed us the apartment through our entire stay, all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the Chateau owner is the best hostess I have ever had, and I've stayed in a lot of VRBO's. I hope to be able to return sometime

What a great experience staying in an actual Chateau!! For all the Americans reading this who love history, this is for you. When we pulled up we were absolutely amazed at how big and grand the Chateau was. We had a two bedroom apartment in the main castle. It is drafty and if it’s cold outside you’ll need an extra blanket. It’s a castle!!! The host was really very nice and accommodating and we got in late and didn’t have time to stop for food because everything was closed…. Stephanie went out early and bought us Crescents and coffee…. And Jam! Soooo nice!! The best part?? You can walk around the entire Chateau and explore on your own…. No crowds or escorts…. My teenagers loved it…. It was like a adventure. I highly recommend it.
