The atmosphere of staying in an historic abbey was good. Room was very pleasant.
Arrived at the hotel at 13.30. No signage to say it was closed until 14.30 or even 15.00. Even when hotel opened I stood at reception for 15 minutes before anyone arrived. When a person did arrive there was no apology-he just said he had been busy with another guest. Hotel states that it has no lift but does not state that there is an old stone stair case from the car park to reception. Whilst not relevant to my needs I note that the hotel web site states that the car park is wheelchair accessible-it is but how one would access the hotel is a matter for conjecture. It is worth noting that the hotel is situated by a very busy junction with motor bikes accelerating at quite late hours. This makes the room very noisy, There is no double glazing or air conditioning. The restaurant was closed apart from a very expensive breakfast which we did not take. This was not stated on the web site or anywhere in the hotel. I understand there have been some renovation problems but this is not made clear on the web site. A reduction in price might well have been in order.
