About this villa rental
Casa Eli, is beautifully situated in large, flat grounds, with a river boundary at the bottom which you can cross via a little bridge to reach the village. Ideal for a quick morning walk to get bread! The location feels like and adventure to children, crossing the home made bridges over the stream/river.
This well maintained and well loved property is light, airy and spacious with 3 good sized bedrooms (one with 4 poster bed, one double and one twin), 2 bathrooms (one with hydromassage and turkish steam shower, and another with corner bath, double basins and separate shower), fully equipped kitchen diner, utility room, and living room with comfy seating, large sofa bed and fireplace.
Beamed ceilings and traditional style flooring feature throughout the upstairs, along with solid chestnut windows and doors.
Insect screens are fitted throughout the property.

Outside there are two covered terraces spanning two side of the house. These terraces are framed with arches - a perfect place for eating and relaxing al fresco.
The grounds:
The extensive gated grounds have lots of flat open space - ideal for children's ball games.
The swimming pool is 8M x 4M plus Roman Steps
There is plenty of room for exploring and one can walk cross country into the village of Pieve Fosciana via an enchanting 10 minute woodland walk, crossing the stream on handmade bridges.
There is a good sized bbq and an outdoor wood oven for experimenting with making bread and pizzas.
Garden house - this gives an option for indoor dining close to the BBQ and wood oven if required, and also provides a relaxing area away from the group if you wish to sit and read inside, but overlooking the garden.
The grounds are bordered by a stream

Situated in extensive grounds, bordered by a stream at the bottom, with views of open countryside and mountains beyond, this is a peaceful retreat in a unique location.
Despite the peace and privacy the site is less than a 10 minute walk cross country and across the streams, to the village of Pieve Fosciana with the following facilities:
Two restaurants - one of which is regarded to be the best in the area, but very well priced!

Shops, including a delicatessen selling scrumptious home made Italian hot food to take away - with a menu that is changed daily

The walk can only be undertaken during the day. The drive is less than 5 minutes.
The market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is only a 5 minute drive away too, with its bars, restaurants, shops, famous Thursday morning market, and train station for easy exploring.
Lucca is less than a one hour drive away, the beautiful mediaeval town of Barga is 20 minutes, Florence 90 minutes, Pisa 1 hr 15 minutes.

We did not know Italy at all before this stay, and wanted somewhere not too busy with tourists - this villa turned out to be perfect! The villa itself was great - big, well appointed, and cool in the day. There was so much space outside, plus the beautiful pool. There is a footpath that goes to a small stream and then the village, and it was great to be able to walk to the bar / bakery / restaurant. Recommend Il Pozzo! We were a bit surprised when a few dogs found their way into the garden but then realised the footpath runs behind the large hedge (you can’t see people, but do hear them and see their dogs sometimes) Not a problem but given the otherwise remoteness of the villa, it can give you a start to suddenly hear voices! We found it easy to get out and about - we did Cinque Terre one day (not to be missed!) and also very much enjoyed Castiglione, the village just up the hill. Access into the villa’s driveway is a bit tight but we soon got used to it, and worth it for the peacefulness of the villa at the end of the track. Loriana was there to welcome us on arrival and was easily contacted if we needed anything (we didn’t but good to know). We would love to come again to this area, and would not hesitate to book this villa again.

We were a group of 6 people (4 adults and 2 children). The house and grounds are extremely well maintained. The kitchen has everything you need and much more. The bathrooms are great and impeccable. It's completely secluded there and yet it's a 10-minute walk to the village.
The access to the house is a bit challenging because it's a bit narrow, but we drove there without any problems in a Mercedes V-Class. Just needs some practice. We had Wi-Fi outages in the afternoon and evening. The mobile reception there is very good.
Unfortunately, the local landlords speak almost no English. A few knowledge of Italian is therefore an advantage.
We would like to thank you for the great stay and would be happy to come back.

Fantastic property that is fairly secluded. Though has a short walk over the stream into the local village with a lovely restaurant. Loriana was excellent, resolving any minor issues we had. Would stay again.
