Locanda Rossa - Preferred Hotels & Resorts, LVX Collection, Capalbio, Toscana, Italia

We stayed at La Conda Rossa for four nights in the Alcova (executive suite), and the photos really don’t do it justice. We were genuinely surprised by how spacious the room was, how beautifully maintained and lush the gardens are, and just how calm and relaxing the whole atmosphere felt. It’s also really lovely how thoughtfully it caters to families (stokke high chair, donkey and goats, kids play area). We ate at the restaurant for most of our meals (the weather wasn’t great), so by the end of the stay we were a bit ready for a change, but we still genuinely enjoyed the food - it’s a big selling point for the place. The staff, as others have mentioned, are relaxed yet very attentive, a really nice balance, and they come across as genuinely warm and personable. One night we made a special request for tiramisu and the chef came through, accommodating!

Unfortunately, the pillows were quite disappointing - both my husband and I really struggled to get comfortable with them. Maybe it’s an Italy thing? We had the same problem in Rome and Florence accomodation. We need to see a chiro ASAP.

Property is designed well to suit families, with everything fairly close together and parking also nearby. Great service, and the signature suite was large and nice.

We didn't realize that many of the amenities (including the restaurant and gym) need to be booked in advance, and often fill up

The style, design and setting were superb .

The food offer was not really good enough. The restaurant was overblown and over priced and the bar menu was so limited it was almost impossible to make up a whole dinner. Apparently this was a reduced offer because it was nearing the end of the season but we were not made aware of this when we booked.
