We've been going to the Royal for years and find it adequate for our needs. This year though although the staff were good the amount of staff was insufficient to give a suitable service to the customers. The cleanliness of the bedrooms was not good. We could have written in the dust and dirt around the wardrobes and units. It will not stop us going but do feel if it gets worse we will consider finding somewhere else. It needs a good refurbish.
Other than the dirty carpets and dust it was ok. Very beautifully Victorian.

Staff was lovely. Helped when ever you needed anything.
Hotel in a lovely place for shops pubs ect.. some lovely little shops tooked away in the side streets. Pool was lovely and warm one day and not the next 😢
The hotel is very tired and could do with a really good hoover.. in corridors remember you get what you pay for. Pool needs to be warmer all the time

No housekeeping. bathroom was really dirty. had to collect own fresh cups, tea & towels. Requested a clean after three nights and it never happened. Stairs to floor 5 were never hoovered or dusted during our 5 night stay.
