Upon arrival (later due to traffic jams) we were well received by the host Riccardo.
Then it turned out that we had actually booked the wrong apartment, 4 people in a 1-bedroom apartment with a sofa bed. Anyway, the sofa bed for 2 adults is not a good idea. Riccardo worked hard so that we could use another apartment with a good bed. And even moved again because that apartment was also booked after a few days. In the end we slept well with a small additional payment! The apartments are well equipped, each with its own character. The area is very quiet. Swimming pool and Jacuzzi excellent. The only disadvantage are the flies and mosquitoes (Autan is your best friend)

We hebben twee heerlijke weken verbleven in het prachtige huis van Riccardo. Het appartement was van alle gemakken voorzien en bovendien erg schoon. Het zwembad wordt elke dag schoongemaakt en vanuit het bubbelbad heb je prachtig uitzicht over de vallei. Heb je iets nodig, dan kun je bij Riccardo terecht. In de nabije omgeving heb je een kleine supermarkt, een bakker en een leuk restaurant (live muziek op donderdagavond), voor een grotere supermarkt moet je 20 min. rijden. Met leuke steden als Volterra en het strand binnen 45 minuten rijden is dit een prima uitvalsbasis om uitstapjes te maken. In de auto zitten is sowieso geen straf: Toscane is één groot openluchtmuseum. Eigenlijk wilden we niet meer naar huis.

Het verblijf bij Podere San Francesco was heerlijk. De boerderij met een ruim erf is prachtig gelegen tussen de landerijen met een mooi uitzicht op Volterra dat in de verte op een heuvel ligt. Volterra is een half uurtje rijden en de moeite waard om te bezoeken, hier is ook een grote supermarkt. Het nabijgelegen Lajatico is een mooi stadje waar je voor brood en dagelijkse boodschappen prima terecht kan. Ons appartement was schoon, had een goed bed en een zeer complete keuken met oven, koelkast en voldoende kookgerei. Midden september was het zwembad nog in gebruik en werd iedere ochtend schoongemaakt. De jacuzzi is een topper! Gastheer Riccardo spreekt zeer goed engels, is vriendelijk en behulpzaam, maar niet opdringerig. Aangezien wij drieen de enige gasten waren hadden we het hele erf en alle terassen rondom het huis voor ons alleen.
