About this house rental
Go back 60 years, the free-ranging animals will let you pass, ducks, a goat or two, chickens, beautiful cattle, pigs, even a vineyard all grown organically. The Friday market selling fresh-baked bread from a traditional oven and cheeses from the nextdoor farm give the sense of a life re-discovered. Lost in the middle of nowhere, find fulfilment.
In the sun facing the courtyard, behind in the secret garden, walking up the path to the fields and woods or enjoying the comforts of this country cottage your time is your own.
But you are just seven minutes from the charming cathedral town of Dol de Bretagne, 30 minutes to the world-famous Mont-Saint-Michel in its vast bay where the Cancale oysters grow, and in the other direction to Saint-Malo, the start of the great River Rance leading into Brittany, to medieval Dinan and onwards via the city of Rennes to the Bay of Biscay at Saint-Nazaire.
Arriving direct from Paris perhaps or from a visit to Normandy, from England by the tunnel or the Saint-Malo ferry, from the wild Atlantic cliffs of Brittany in the West or even from the far South, the trains to Dol-de-Bretagne or the motorways of France come close by. There are flights coming to Rennes airport 50 minutes away.
The Gite La Surais is a family home with a large dining-salon, well-equipped kitchen, downstairs laundry and shower. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom, a third room can be a discrete office or a bedroom for children or adults. The pretty, secluded garden is for meals round the outdoor table or relaxing in the sun.
Step back a few years in the tranquility of this place, its granite walls and old beams. Enjoy the lush Breton countryside, the welcome of its unique culture and the sea not far away. Silence, beauty, where the world ends a curious sense of peace washes over you.
