About this farm stay rental
The Farmhouse is one of 3 properties in this location (see also The Gite and The Grange) situated in a very tranquil part of rural Brittany, yet within convenient access to medieval Dinan (10 mins). Within a 30 minute leisurely country drive you have access to many excellent beaches on the north Brittany coast (Cote d'Armor). The property stands in grounds of 4 acres and looks down across rich farmland and wooded countryside.
The Farmhouse retains all the character features a of the period (early 1800’s) including traditional lime rendering, exposed beams and stonework throughout.
The grounds have been landscaped and are regularly maintained. Set in a very private rural setting (about a dozen cars pass per day), the property is situated in the hamlet of Péhé (no shops, about 10 houses / farmlets) and about 2km from the nearest village of Mégrit (a pleasant bicycle ride for baguettes). Plélan-le-Pétit is the nearest town (5km) for a medium sized supermarket, butcher, patisserie etc.
Other attractions in the area include Dinan, a beautiful medieval town situated on the Rance - only 10 minutes away. In Dinan you will also find the usual array of hypermarkets etc. Other larger centres are an easy drive away; St. Malo (40 minutes), Rennes (45 minutes) and St. Brieuc (35 minutes). Le Mont St. Michel is also a worthwhile day trip being one hour away. The route back via the "shellfish coast" from Cherrueix to Concale and the superb beaches and coastal walks from Concale to St.Malo make for a memorable journey. Local attractions include an equestrian centre on the outskirts of Plélan-le-Pétit (5K) where pony treks and horse riding lessons can be booked and at Jugon-les-Lacs (5K), water sports (canoeing, windsurfing, pedalo, yachting) and swimming pool.
You can walk, ride or safely push children in buggies around the small local roads from the property, with plenty of scenic variety, from corn and wheat crops to pasture and wooded/forest areas. The terrain is undulating. There is a water tower atop a hill, a pleasant 1km stroll away, from where you can see for miles around the Brittany countryside (including the village of Mégrit just below).
For children, there is a spacious lawned area at both the front and rear of the property for games of football, badminton etc. A BBQ is provided - the large patio area at the rear of the Farmhouse (shared with the Grange) provides an excellent location for outdoor eating and to enjoy the afternoon or evening sunset.
