Arrive at this peaceful coastal retreat and the first thing you’ll admire is the panoramic view it offers across Castlemaine Harbour to the Ring of Kerry beyond. Inside, the welcome is warm and homely – an open fire will cast a warm glow while you watch TV or listen to music in the lounge, and there’s room to cook, chat and plan your next day’s adventures in the kitchen/diner close by. A utility room with laundry facilities and a shower room complete the home-style convenience of your stay, and when it’s time to sleep, two smartly styled bedrooms await – one with a double bed and the other with a single. For a breath of fresh air, step out into the garden where outdoor furniture, seasonal planting and a lawn set the scene for al fresco feasts and far-reaching views.
The local area has something for everyone – a stop at the town of Castlemaine (7 miles) – known as the gateway to both the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry – is a must while the vast sands and dunes of Inch Beach (5 miles) are ideal for all-weather walks and water sports. Further west the pretty fishing port of Dingle (19 miles) offers locally sourced seafood, historic inns and boat trips into the bay and Blasket Islands beyond, while 5 miles north, Camp sits at the foot of the Slieve Mish mountains and is about 10 miles west of lively Tralee.
